The gas block is standard low profile steel, which was chosen for durability reasons. The barrel is dimpled and the block is screwed in place. The gas system is midlength. The barrel is 1/8 twist.

I have an early lower in hand...it is. It looks sleek and dangerous and in all ways like the Big Kids did it. I'm not sold on WWSD2020 as a concept, but the lower is genius.

Seems like similar to Australia but with semi autos and self defense accessible to the public. First thing to consider would be whether you are trying to apply for a hunting or competition shooting licence, pick based on practicality, and then research your options from there.

To add to the titanium flash hider commentary, I was a metalworker in the army. We are not taught to work on titanium, only warrant officers are. Titanium dust is extremely flammable, similar to magnesium, and is treated as hazmat.

I find your honesty refreshing! As A US Army Ranger and a former quality control supervisor for a gun barrel manufacturer, I find this project to be interesting, well thought out and love the idea of a 5 pound rifle. Onces make pounds, pounds make pain! Two pounds less rifle weight, means another thirty rounds you can carry. one mag might make the difference. I hope they sell well for you. Congrats on production. My favorite thing about the WWSD rifle is the reasoning and explanation behind every part. There were some things where I was like "Why did you do that? That's unnecssary" until I watched the explanation, and at least I'd understand why they went that way. All in all, it's a well thought out build, and I wouldn't hesitate to use one.

I've really wanted a WWSD2020 but i couldn't afford it so i bought the KP-15 lower with milspec trigger group. Figured maybe i could put one together over time. Now I've learned that my wife is pregnant with twins. No more buying anything. So i stuck the M4 upper on it off of my old AR. It completely changed the feel of it. It's lighter and feels better balanced. Even without all the other WWSD upgrades i'm still happy with it.

I jumped on the pre-order for a lower as soon as Brownells announced it. Had some of the parts already sitting around and all I really needed was the carbon fiber handguard. Had a Faxon 16" pencil barrel with an SLR titanium gas block and a slick side Aero upper. The handguard popped up on arfcom and now I have my own WWSD2020 build!

@InRangeTV I assure you that Ti muzzle device are practical, the device you have must have not been machined out of Tool Grade Titanium. Ti is flammable the lighter less dense the material the more so. Tool Grade is easily welded, the more ultralight aerospace material the more care is needed. Ti baffles are used in many full auto rated suppressors aswell

Wow exciting news! Despite living in Canada I've been checking in to see if these rifles were out yet. I was really interested in the original project. As a very that was originally issued a C7-A1 I served with a super light and handy service rifle and was happy to see something like that and better coming back. Unfortunately due to some changes in our gun laws, ity doesn't look like WWSD is in my future. Glad to see them out.

Careful with that AT3 upper. They use 6061 aluminum and your 7075 charging handle will be harder. You might have issues with the catch on the charging handle damaging the slot on the upper.

Unfortunately, I live in the People's Republik of New Jerseystan. That said, I can't purchase the complete WWSD2020 rifle because...wait for it...it has A REMOVABLE FLASH HIDER! I DID purchase a KP-15 lower (full ambi except for the bolt catch). I mated it to a DSG upper, chromed BCG and ambi charging handle (I tried to get as close as I could to the WWSD2020 as possible. The upper was all that was available, but I like it.) Good Work Gents! That lower is spot on!

The remarks about manufacturing and the general lack of understanding is accurate. As a mechanical engineer in the manufacturing industry and firearms enthusiast I hear inaccurate information all the time from other enthusiasts, industry workers, and youtube channels. The one that I hear the most is "its all the same and you're paying for the name" such as uppers and forging marks or barrels with rebranded names.

I wish I know about the Titanium burning issue before I purchased some titanium muzzle devices. I've never tested my titanium in the dark and what flash I did encounter I assumed just solely the result of powder burning. I guess you learn something new everyday.

Great video! Supply chain security is always important, made more visible by the double whamy of high demand and global pandemic disruptions to supply chains. The completed lower receiver, ready to take whatever upper you want to put on it, is still available from Brownell's for less than $200. Once you start breaking down the separate parts to build the same thing, you save between $50 and $100 by buying the KE Arms lower, and that's on the low end with budget parts. As for the complete rifle, the only thing I'd do differently is using a slightly heavier, taper-profiled barrel. Other than that, I like the ultra-lightweight concept. That's the reason I was eye-balling just the completed lower.

Woohoo! Congrats on shipping the full WWSD2020 guns! Great job to all involved. Unfortunately I’m still waiting (im)patiently for my preorder FDE KP-15. Really starting to to think I should have just gone with the black version.

I know to get the full package you need everything, but I cannot say enough how much I appreciate even just having the lower. Upper is standard with a 16 inch military profile barrel and a vortex strike eagle with a Samson evolution 13" handguard. While the balance is indeed front heavy the overall weight is so much nicer than that Gen1 UBR I had on it.

I wanna take a sec to highlight the way this video was shot. I noticed I could see the reflection in the window but the post in the center hides the reflection of the camera. Neat idea. You guys make great videos.

I got my stripped KP-15 back in January and I'm LOVING it! I can't wait to be able to get my hands on a pencil barrel and feel just how great the platform can feel. The only part I have that I can't use is my Armaspec SRS, need a JP
