Its not taking b4, just moving there. The issue is that g7 is covered by the bishop, so the king has to go to e8, which is on an open file opposite the rook. That allows discoveries such as Bf6 - the king is in check from the white rook, and it has no legal moves. This the black queen has to block and give itself up for a rook.

In fact, I'm a noob but I can't see _ANY_ option to defend against Bf4 even if you see it coming. It seems like it is too late. That's actually really nasty unless I'm blind.
