Love (for Spain) in the Time of Coronavirus - Spanish storytellers on social media (II): Don Guti

José Luis Gutiérrez "Guti" (also known as "Don Guti"), is one of the best storytellers in Spain. In the first days of the coronavirus crisis, he had to cancel a performance that he had planned at the Villamayor Public Library (Salamanca). The day of the cancelled performance he sent this video to the library, with one of the four new stories that he planned to tell that day: it was goint to be a premiere... Here we leave it: it is a real delight. And quite a challenge for any student of Spanish, for how Guti reproduces when telling the traditional speech of the peoples of the central plateau of Spain.
Guti has created the movement "Rondadores contra el virus" ( / 229922514857942 ) on the network, which promotes going to the Spanish oral tradition - this time the one associated with the song -, to resist in these difficult moments: to sing to chase away fear, as our ancestors did, and unite to do it. Humanity and human contact (even if it has to be virtual) as our best ally always.

En los primeros días de la crisis del coronavirus, tuvo que cancelar una actuación que tenía prevista en la Biblioteca Pública de Villamayor (Salamanca). El día de la actuación él mandó este vídeo a la biblioteca, con uno de las cuatro nuevas historias que tenía previsto contar ese día, a modo de estreno. Aquí os la dejamos: es una auténtica delicia. Y todo un reto para cualquier estudiante de español, por cómo reproduce Guti al contar el habla tradicional de los pueblos de la meseta central de España.
