I always liked him. He was never afraid to speak his mind or the truth! He was human like the rest of us and made his share of mistakes. But he has ALWAYS supported DETROIT. He has been tried and true to the city

It took another 8 years, but Billy got it right again.

Wow, he sounds different than when I last heard him. But I remember him well, he's a legendary broadcaster in Detroit and we'll never see the likes of him again.

RIP Bill Bonds passed away yesterday. You would think Bill was prophesying back in 2008 when he gave this last commentary. Here we are in 2014 facing the same O'le crap Republicans and Democrat's threatening to shut down the government. I'm personally sick of both parties.

When Bill Bonds is on his deathbed, I want Rich Fischer to take off his wig. Like in Return of the Jedi. "But you'll die, Bill!!!" "Nothing can stop that now." "Tell Doris, she was right! Tell the sista, she was right!"

Start at the 1:00 mark. From this Trump-supporting previously-hard-core GOPer... What you said, Bill, is painfully obvious now.

Bill Bond came to WXYZ in as a part time booth reporter after school in 1963!I could not find his age anywhere! I'm open for your comments on his age! Let just hope that he remain around for another generation! He need to be teaching young reporters how to ask the rough questions!

A nation of free men racking their AR15’s would that be a good way to communicate that.

I love this guy.When that generation is gone we can finally turn the lights out on this once proud nation.

His voice doesn't sound as hard as it did years ago, judging by the clips... could it be chalked up to age?

Yes Bill Bonds didn"t play favorites with his good old fashion reporting style. Detroit is a Democratic Town where Unions dominant the landscape. He never play politics!

There will never be another Bill Bonds in Detroit, Michigan. Opinionated and Right On! I met him when my college class went on a tour of WXYZ-TV. He spent about a half-hour with me personally talking and answering my questions (I wanted to be a broadcaster at that time). At the end of our conversation, he said, "Whatever you do in life, be brave". Never forgot that advice. Thanks for the memories, Billy, RIP.

Everyone in America should be watching this before voting! I would like to thank all whom viewed this! I placed this on here because I felt his words were worth watching! Please go out nd vote Tuesday!

I agree with you scotchrks, People from Detroit are unique in many ways and sometimes we need someone to say it straight forward! But it was so refreshing to have someone not just reading the news. We like our news like our hockey games "AGGRESSIVE!" Channel 7 never been the same without Bill! Imagine a Bill Bonds reporting from the WHITE HOUSE everynight! The Bush Administration would have flipped out!

Eventually, we will all be working at the Pawn shop or the McDonalds down the street, because we will no longer produce things. Not to mention, Forget about the strong military, we will be subjects of China. Without the Big Three the foundation of our high tech and tool and die, Steel and Metals Companies. Without the Big Three many of those companies would cease to exist. So the US military would fade down to a sub standard force. The Big Three was the main reason we won World War II.

Jaybee, Most of Detroit population shifted to the Suburbs with 4.3 million and cover Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, St.Clair, Lapeer, Washenaw and Monroe Counties. Unlike other cites Detroiters never rebuilt the City after the roits and never returned! As to the industrial center, Its called Free Trade. Its one thing with Canada, But when a America makes 8-15 a hour and some guy in India or China make 50 cents a day and have no medical.... guess what?

Buffalo TV news/sports commentators could, and SHOULD, learn something or two or three from Bill Bonds' reporting example. I'd like to say that had he been a TV sports reporter here in Buffalo, he'd be raking Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson(a native Detroiter, BTW) over the coals for keeping a perennial flop named Dick Jauron as Bills head coach. We don't have that caliber of sports reporting here, and that's sad.
@madman316 жыл бұрын
I found it to be sad and pathetic actually. Bringing back the racist alcoholic anchorman who looked (and sounded) a little lit to bring back the glory days for a night. I guess the media will do anything for ratings. They should have let him continue to pitch furniture stores and law offices. His time has passed.

I just hate to see him go again. ONE newscast!? C'mon! For all our troubles. we need a man to split the whole stories, 1-by-1, down the middle. We need this guy sitting down WXYZ's newsdesk through the worst, best, and all of the times. I know, he may feel a bit rusty, but hold on until the crisis is over, and either he can leave, or he can stay for long./

Throw out both parties and put in what? Interesting comment, but he skirts around that issue very nicely. Just another way of saying, "I want change like you do, but I dont care to do anything about it". Well...ok then, goodbye sir.

Well three weeks into this mess Where is Change? We have a pile of Clinton retreads and inhouse fghting between dems and Republicans! Like Bill said we must hold them accountable!

I disagree with you madman3,watching the newscast he did something that hasn't been done in any broadcast nes in a while, He engaged the reporter and asked hard questions!Bill Bond should be teaching young students in college! I don't want my reporters being PR men for canidates and big business. I want them to be independent and aggressive!How many people know thatGeorge Bush bought 99,000 in Paraguay! What happened to the news on that!
@streetboyzinc15 жыл бұрын
But in all fairness, Medical add nearly 2000 dollars per car, even Toyota don't have this cost. Then the Big Three has many more retire workers than others at this moment. Japan hasn't opened its borders as the United States has to a flood of imports.

Where have all the great anchormen gone? I grew up with Bill Bonds as a kid, because my father insisted on it everyday at 5:00. Because like Bill, my father was also a straight shooter. Detroit may remember Bill's no nonsence way about him, some may call it arrogence, but Detroit needed that at the time, and perhaps more so today. That's why he made channel 7 the TOP of all network news in the city. Maybe Detroit needs more of Bill Bonds telling us the way it TRUELY is! WAY ahead of his time!
