Nice upload, I have always used Baitrunners but want to use big pits now. These reels look alright.

That small bit on the spool is called a clicker, you also need to get some more line on them reels fill them right up ;).

I use a pair for beach fishing and never had any probs and they've been out in some wild weather 👍

Alright buddy when you say the crank power is to much I’m sure your suppose to use the rod to pull the fish and and wind up the slack when dropping the tip back down in a pumping action my understanding is the reel isn’t used you wind the fish in

Had a pair of these ( Riot 65) back in the noughties, I got rid pretty sharpish as the line had a propensity for getting behind the spool, and the front drag was not the smoothest... I went with the Shimano 10000XTE's then swapped those out for Wychwood QD 5500 For my Dwarf 9' ers

Thanks for the review. The little clicky thing inside the spool is probably called a ratchet. Wychwood is pronounced Which-wood, not Why-ch-wood. Not trying to sound like an English language copper, just mentioning it. Cheers

Would these be ok on 10ft rods
@MarksCarpFishingDiary2 жыл бұрын
sorry for the late reply fella been MIA for a bit. they might be abit heavy for 10ft rod but best thing to do is got to a tackle shop that has them and try them out on a 10ft rod

I know im late to the party but i thought id comment as i found your video very helpful. Ive always used baitrunner reels but last year i decided to stop using the bait runner feature and just use the front drag on my reel and i much preferred it. Ive just purchased the wychwood riot 65s which are a bit smaller than yours, not sure how much smaller as they havent arrived yet but im looking forward to trying them. How did you find adjusting the to the longer casting? Also did you do the qucik drag change in the end?
