I wonder if aerodynamics affect the car at this scale
@FZERO20 Жыл бұрын
In a way, it does yes. I can have a rc buggy and a touring car both built for speed runs and the touring car for 1, will have a higher top speed. And 2, will less likely lift off the ground due to all that air

I promise you it does. i race locally in Oregon and our F1 class is very aero dependent, even indoors. I run in the 1/10 scale Tub Touring cars and my body of choice is a 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT3, which is a scale model of the same car in IMSA as a GTD car. I've got 3 wings, each cut very slightly differently. The wing I have on now is a medium downforce cut and the rear balance at speed makes it very stable on corner exit, at the cost of needing to be more aggressive getting out of the throttle to make it rotate in the corners. The first body I had for that car lost the front splitter after 2 races and I'm 4 races in with this new body and still have a splitter, and it still can corner well enough. The two cars that beat me routinely are OVAL car bodies (we're an on-road course). and most of that is driver skill. When I have the car dialed in and I'm on my game, I'm as fast in the technical sections, but I give up a little speed on the straight. My car is one of the heaviest on track at 1545 grams. The minimum weight in per the USGT 1/10 scale rulebook is 1350 grams. They use the oval bodies because they're a much lighter option. I'm competitive with a far heavier car on the same motor, battery and gearing. We're on the same tire, also, but how each of us treats the tire varies. Some drivers are using tire grip 'sauce' every time they go out, others run it on a case by case basis per their setup and track behavior that day. Most of us have used tire glue (normally to glue the tires to the rims) on the tire sidewalls to keep the cars from rolling over in the corners because the track has SO MUCH grip.

Yeah, but how do I contact them to get in on it? Can't find any local, active tracks. Especially for astro/carpet 1/10th scale and drifting.

The RC Manufacturers really need to Push this harder. Much harder. There's no reason this shouldn't be an X GAMES event. It's Way harder than it looks.
@VestedUTuber11 ай бұрын
If only they'd actually put the effort. The only two companies that even remotely do so are Horizon Hobbies and Traxxas, and unfortunately due to their overall negative effects on the hobby they're the _last_ people who should be the face of the hobby.

@@johnmiller4553 Are you saying that because you don't like the X Games, or are you saying that because you want the sport to stay niche?
@johnmiller455310 ай бұрын
@@VestedUTuber NEITHER…. LOVE THE X GAMES.. SO LETS THINK ABOUT THIS FOR A SECOND…. THE ATHLETES THAT ARE IN X GAMES ARE AT THE TOP OF THEIR SPORT.. RACING RC CARS IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE ATHLETICISM IT TAKES TO BE PART OF THE X GAMES.. RC IS MORE LIKE A STAY CALM THINKING / PATIENT KIND OF ACTIVITY WITH LITTLE TO NO ATHLETIC ABILITY NEEDED.. ONLY THE COMPETITIVE PART IS THE SPORT…. I MEAN YOU DONT REALLY HAVE TO BE ATHLETIC TO RACE RC.. JUST MORE LIKE CALM, COOL, AND COLLECTIVE .. THE MOST OUT OF SHAPE PERSON CAN WIN IF THEY ARE GOOD.. BUT WILL NEVER AND SHOULD NEVER BE APART OF ANY X SPORT.. THER IS MORE ATHLETICISM IN MARSHALING AN RC RACE THAN RACING IT..SO… 😉🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙

@@caidendixon1609 Eh, I wouldn't say as much. If it was as much then you'd think that Ryan Maifield would be as much of a household name as Mario Andretti (Maifield is basically the Andretti of RC), but I didn't even know who he was until I got into the hobby. But you can definitely go pretty far. Those factory drivers have it made.

These are radio controlled, remote control has a wire from the control to the car.
