Jam making may be the easiest way to preserve. Other than the fruit, all you need are two ingredients. Yes, there's sugar, which is one of the most important ingredients in jam. Eaten as a treat on plain yogurt, a slice of good bread, or oatmeal, you only need a small amount to go a long way.

------------------------------
Ingredients:
- 3 lbs fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and washed
- 3 cups white granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
Instructions:
In a large heavy-bottomed kettle, combine the strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Bring to a rolling boil on the stove. Remove from the heat and strain the liquid from the strawberries. Return the liquid to the heat and gently boil until the liquid reaches 221 degrees. Add in reserved strawberries and continue to boil for 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare boiling water in a large pot for canning.
Remove the foam from the strawberries, if desired. Remove from heat and mash or blend strawberries to desired consistency.
Pour in sterilized jars leaving 1/4-inch headspace. Wipe off the rim of the jar with hot water.
Prepare lids to the manufacturer's instructions on the package and place them on each jar with a ring, turned finger tight.
Boil in a water bath for 10 minutes, making sure to adjust for your location's altitude.
Remove from the water bath and cool at room temperature for 24 hours. Make sure the jars are sealed. When you press down on the center, there should be no flex.

I have never canned anything before & made this for the first time tonight. I was apprehensive about putting them in the water bath, but thankfully nothing exploded & hearing my 5 jars ping afterwards was very satisfying! My mom already asked me about blueberry jam 😄 TY!

I’ve been watching you for a few months now. I love your videos. You explain everything so well. I have to say, you seem to be perfect in every way. You’re so well rounded, so knowledgeable in so many different areas too. You’re so well spoken, so well mannered, so well groomed, I mean, I watch you and I think my goodness, is there nothing this guy can’t do, he seems so perfect and you really have it together. I’m sure there is, but it sure doesn’t seem like it! Your mother and your grandma, did an excellent job raising you, my goodness. Keep up the great videos, you are helping so many people. Thank you so much! 😊

We are celebrating our oldest daughter’s 40th birthday today. Main dish, Lasagna made by yours truly. Cheesecake for dessert. A couple of us are also bringing fruit sauces for topping the cheesecake. You’ve inspired me to make a Peach sauce. I did it last night. Just checked it, it’s great! Thank you.

@@Wankidy you overcook the berries if you leave them in boiling for the time needed to come to temp but make it the way you like it.

@jpneal10 they are no longer berries, are they? Overcooking the berries is the whole point. But like you said, you do it the way you like it.

Love how you sterilized your jars!!! I hate doing canning because its such a pain in the butt to sterilize the jars...& putting them in the oven kind scares me (not sure why...I have glass baking dishes & pie plates).... this makes it seem much more doable and not such a mess!!!!! Gonna have to try this!!!!
