This is one of the most versatile amps. This amp you can control so many frequencies from very low to very high. You can get great muddy sound or great bright clean sound. It is great for metal and punk, and/or 70's, 80's rock. I love this amp I have played many and I could not stop thinking about his one. It has such great clean sound.

Thank you Keith, I was trying to decide between a x100b IV & a V3M, you & another youtuber, Stephen Bonamassa, were really helpful in my decision choice, I opted for the x100b IV I found a really good deal on ebay I couldn't pass up! Thanks again & I 'kk let you know how I like it, maybe even post a video on youtube!

Glad I could help. The X-100B is a great Amp....
@KMGuitarSlinger14 жыл бұрын
@Ficajalicious - Hey man, thanks for posting. The X-100B will do those tones for and more. It has a gain switch so you can get everything from a very mild break up to vintage Rock. Then with the gain switch on you can go from Rock to metal. It does have a good amount of gain available but, it is not a "Modern" toned High gain head. The thing I love is the amp is very responsive and will clean up very nicely just by backing your guitar volume down.
@KMGuitarSlinger12 жыл бұрын
Hey SpookeyEyeGhost, My Cowboy coveree X-100B I bought before the "Volume Fix". It is #25 of the first ones built. However, I sent it in to get the first volume fix revision... The Black x-100B I bought with the first "volume Fix" revision already done. I love these amps and I have never had a problem with the amp not being loud enough.

I have the 1981 version of the combo amp (XV 212). Incredible how all the controls are still the same on these later amps in the "head" version... although my bright switches on the lead and rhythm volume require that I pull them out to engage vice a switch. My second channel no longer sounds as amazing as yours (mine has turned flabby).
@itchiray13 жыл бұрын
Cool demo. I sent backCarvin V3m. I didn't care for the gain channels - too compressed metal oriented. I got my dream amp about 10 days ago - the X100B Series IV. I can't say enuf about the sound, clean and dirty, and features of this amp, I am very surprised this 100 watt beast sounds great at "1" / bdrm level. It gets damn loud too. but note that the graphic EQ gives an extra 18DB (!!!!!) of additional LOUDNESS if you want it. YEEHAW! Yes, I got the brown Country Western - a beaut!

You are so right. my X100B reissue is such an incredible amp. It spanks my Soldano Hot Rod 50 so bad its not evwn funny. The X100B is one of the very best amps on the market at any price. Incredible.

Hey man, thank you for the comment. I am using my Carvin DC 727 seven string. The pickups are the stock Carvin C26 bridge and neck pickup.
@Zolantor15 жыл бұрын
I reccomend the basis settings on the lead channel (they are in the manual) Bass: 7 Mid: 4 Treble: 7 Presence: 7 I have a mahogany guitar so I usually have less bass, but this gives a good marshall type tone. Then the rest you should do is form your sound with the active EQ.
@kd3509 жыл бұрын
Carvin's blowing these out for $549 with free optional vinyl tolex and footswitch and free shipping...Mine ran $700 delivered! Not to fret, sold an SG and turned around and ordered the V3M micro head....complaints of a not enough loud clean were squashed when I tried one out in person...oh and if you're not happy with the max level of the 100B, you can engage the boost, run the rotary eq's up, dime the graphic eq and then back off your channel masters and then it feels like a 100 watt amp though it's closer to 80...Clean isn't too pedal friendly with its excessive compression. Leave the foot switch at home, just run on crunch with the hi gain toggle off and run the drive under 5. With that setup spank the front end with your pedal board and the cleans are as good as those on any Marshall.

Well, I got my x100b IV, & I'm going thru a "getting to know you" process with it, the clean channel is the best I've heard! I love the warmth & woodiness of the lead channel but I am trying to coax a little more tight percussiveness & clarity out of it without stealing the warmth out of it, any tips would be great, thanks!
@KMGuitarSlinger4 жыл бұрын
You can get Tight percussive to a point. But, this is not a modern High Gain Amp that is really stiff and brickish.... with no reaction to your playing. This amp is more open and full and very articulate and responsive to the way you play. That being said - on a 6 string with the right pickups and speakers you can get a very nice chunk and tight rhythm sound to it (very Dream Theater like). And even with a 7-string too - although a little more tricky as this amp has a lot of bass response. And with an 8-String a little more so on the tricky side. The trick on an 8-string is to roll down the bass end - and roll down the gain.

@thatguyfromthatday Vinnie Vincent Invasion - Boys Gonna Rock It could probably do some old-school thrash stuff as well.. with an eq in the loop and a boost it would probably do modern tones as well.

Those brit100s are killer man, they remind of a vintage 30 but without that wild mid "honk" that you can't EQ out, Its a smoother more balanced/detailed mid-range sweeter highs too.

I wouldnt say they always sucked, in the 70's80's they were good for what was available.Same with Mesa,IMO the JCM900 was the best JCM,and the triple recto was the best Mesa.I have sold them both and a 2000 last year to buy the most amazing amps I ever played or heard to date.And that is the Blackstar series 1/200 which I sold to buy 2 series 1/100's and they are hands down the best sounding most versatile amps Ive ever played.

The X-100B and the Legacy are actually more similar than they are different. Remember Steve Vai used to play the X-100B's. I would say the main difference between the two is the way they are voiced. message me and I can try to help more as I am limited to 500 characters.

Amp sounds fantastic! Quick question: Have you had any of the volume issues with the amp that I've read about. I notice that it appears you're almost able to talk over the amp on the video. (I know the camera is probably doing that). Do you think the amp has a volume issue?
@KMGuitarSlinger4 жыл бұрын
Amp is totally loud enough. No issues with the Amp not being loud enough. I was not cranking the Amp during this demonstration at all. Just had it up loud enough to do the demo. Full band I usually run with the Master Volume at 8 and the lead Volume at about 3.5 and clean volume at about 2.5.
@tenorbanjoguy15 жыл бұрын
How does it work in low volume situations? I see it is switchable down to 25 watts. How does it sound that way? Excellent video by the way!
@KMGuitarSlinger4 жыл бұрын
Great! - you notice more of a breakup difference. Meaning you'll achieve that cranked pushed effect without being as Loud . However, its still going to be loud - just not as loud as 100 Watt.

Like Sakari said. However, I have tried both. I like both.... the 6L6 is a little more edgier - where-as EL34 more oomph if that makes sense. Now I have had El34's in one head and 6L6's in the other head just for the combo of sound. Very cool.
