Just got mine, doing the same thing you are. Found a 21.3 inch 4:3 monitor, didn't want a widescreen, so I can rotate the screen vertical/horizontal. Trying to configure the tankstick using maximus now. What a pain in the ass. But worth every minute!!!!

@skaterbug5 The flashing light on the left side of the adapter unit will turn solid blue (or red i can't remember player 1 or player 2 colors). The controller is now active. Remember, by pressing the front-left pinball button and P1 button, you are essentially pressing the "PS" button on the controller. So you will always need to press these buttons whenever you want to exit game/turn off system.

@GFRomaji It works wonderfully. Quality parts and quality build. I also use this with my PS3 via the adapter, and it works seamlessly with the XMB, albeit some manual reading is necessary (as the PS button is actually achieved by holding down the left pinball button and then pressing the P1 button). Buttons cannot be customized for the PS3, but for the PC it is a fully-customizable keyboard emulator! If you're like me and want a mame cab but don't have the space for it yet this is the way to go!

yes of course. think of the tankstick as being just another PS3 controller. You can't rearrange the buttons on the controller, so all changes to the key bindings must be made in each individual software (ie menu>controller settings)

@Rhylton051480 It works on my adapter perfectly! Make sure you're not using the trackball/mouse USB into the PS3. Just connect the X-Arcade/PS3 adapter to the controller port and then to the PS3. I usually do this before turning on the PS3. Make sure your MODE switch in the back of the X-Arcade unit is set to the factory default MODE 1. It will only work on this setting! Then once the XMB loads, Hold the front-left pinball button while also pressing the Player 1 button.

@medicwheat69 wish i could answer your inquiry, but i chickened-out on the 'cracking-it-open' thing. I realized I use this thing with my PS3 for fighting games like Marvel VS Capcom 3, and that i'd be ruining the nice finish and versatility of the X-Arcade tankstick if i tore out the bottom and wired it to a motherboard. cooling issues would be another problem. I realized at this point the project has taken a sharp turn. I just bought a killer sandy bridge laptop w/HDMI out to plasma + Tankstick

@artamanqq wow good to know... yeah, i've already considered just mounting a high-end laptop underneath (or under the stand that i'm building for this) That way it requires no power cord, just an hdmi to the tv! Also, I won't have to worry about hacking up this nice arcade deck, and someday it'll prolly go in a custom cabinet, so there's no sense in cuttin big holes in it now. Buying a laptop also is more useful, since i can disconnect it from the tankstick and use it for a million other things.

@deejaytai1 Configuring is not so bad... I flip it to MODE 2 in the back and set my own custom controls, so I dont have to reconfigure anything in MAME! I mean, the tackstick is sweet cuz its not looked at as a joystick, but as a keyboard and mouse, so the customizing is endless. Maximus is cool, and very clean-looking, but the game list leaves something to be desired. I like how hyperspin uses transparent 'marquee' graphics for the game list wheel, rather than the plain font that maximus uses.

@artamanqq Already doin it lol! yep. It makes more sense to just mount a laptop, than to gut this thing. Primarily because then id have a laptop than can utilize for everything else, and also because I just bought a PS3 adapter for my X-Arcade so I can play Marvel Vs Capcom!!! If I gutted it and put a motherboard inside, id be connecting all the controls internally, and not able to hook it up to a console. Neat idea, just isnt practical. The new core i5's and i7's will run my frontend no prob :)

Do you still use your X-Arcade and/or have you made any modifications to it. I play KI 1&2 and my factory parts are wearing out really fast, Im thinking about making some modifications either with the new X-Arcade Competition Parts or some other brand.. It worked perfect for a few months but now all the button Microswitches and Button Switches are turning into moosh, Im about to replace the parts for a second time in 3 months...

I had XArcade for 3 years and it's not the best arcade joystick. I bought others that has a better arcade feel.

meh... kinda ugly. i mean, whats the point of going with this portable controller, only to mount it into a cabinet!? i'd rather keep it portable, or built a flush-looking cabinet, custom to the design I want.
