X-Carve Upgrade 2: Auto Spindle/Dust Collection Switch.

When I plugged my controller and spindle into the switch, it would trip the switch.

Is there a way to test my IOT Relay? I checked in the "Machine inspector 30=1" but in spindle control I don't see "Automatic", I only see "Manual or Hardware" Any idea what is my problem here, my setup or my IOT Relay?

thank you so much, I have burned through 4 routers because ill start a carve and I will have to leave being on call and not get back in time or the timing will be off as the carve is working.

be wary of using your shop vac on that IoT relay along with your router. Some shop vacs can draw more current (if it has to work harder for some reason) than the relay can handle and it will shut down if that current is exceeded, shutting off your router and vac......happened to me several times before i figured it out.

This is awesome. I need this! I have the same issue. I am often doing something else when the carve is done and don't always realize it's finished. I listen but some times I can't tell. I just got the dust collection and was actually looking for a video on how to install it. I'm glad I found this video.

You should take a moment to remove the theft deterrent device on the router cord. Some people make the mistake of thinking it's some sort of choke for the router but it's just a security tag within the plastic casing. Then you will have more flexable cord on the router.

Im not familiar with Sheapeoko or carbide but all it requires is an low voltage output from the controller when you turn on the spindle from the carbide software

Does this come with the wire needed to run to the back of the x carve controller?

I want to order that . Did it come with the cord that connects to the x controller . I didn’t see it in the description. Only the 4 outlet box

only the outlet box. Your need a 1 pair cable or 2 wires. You can pick up a small spool at home depot, or order it as well from amazon

awesome video - just set my iot relay up and away i go! is that painters tape on your board or vinyl . whats your carve then paint process? tape seems to shred when carved

that may be tape but I use vinyl oracal 631. I have a vinyl decal business as well so I have lots of it

Jeff, are you aware that you have the dust collection arm mounted sideways?

Yep :) I didnt like the big tall pole or the stiff hose they provided. so I turned it sideways and using the rockler small tool hose. Its very flexible and stretches. I want to eventual have an enclosure and this seems easier for that. Its a work in progress
