Thanks for the video. I receive my X-carve on Saturday and will ensure I run this process. I am looking forward to getting this thing up and running. I will keep a lookout for more post.

Thank you for making this video! I’m new to the x-carve, just got a 2018 model that’s in great shape, barely used.

Great vids man...you helped (a little bit) me keep my sanity putting the xcarve together. I just wish the instructions were a little more precise. Got it together tho, and I cant wait to see what it can do

Ugh! The thing that I wanted to see most is where on the left of the project you placed the bit, I’m confused about exactly where you do the XY ?
@DuraWoodworks3 жыл бұрын
Typically, I place the X/Y as close to the bottom left of the work piece as possible. Usually do it by eye.
@AaronKarp3 жыл бұрын
1) Move the bit to approximately the lower left corner (2) Lower the bit (z axis) until it's a hair above the material (3) Move the x/y until the *center* of the bit is right over the bottom left corner.

how do you load the bit? I cannot figure that part out?
@DuraWoodworks5 жыл бұрын
Will Darter how do you mean? In the router? Or in the easel software?

Thanks for this video! I would like to know that as well, onto the router, thanks

how about how to actually calibrate. thanks
@tripdagoat8 ай бұрын
You say this is a calibration video, but at no point was anything calibrated. You checked proper assembly, and then ran a calibration check piece but at no point was the machine calibrated. You even day the machine is off, but its good enough for your needs.

what bit are you using
@DuraWoodworks4 жыл бұрын
I believe it was a 1/16" spiral upcut bit.

more like hero to zero, so you did not actually calibrate the machine, waste of time
@DuraWoodworks4 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the video. This was the initial calibration of the machine, which actually didn't need much. Lemme know if you can offer any suggestions on how to more fully calibrate it. Thanks for the watch!

@@DuraWoodworks only suggestion I would have said is the waste board needs to be plained. Because the mdf isn’t true throughout the wasted board. If the waste board isn’t true your depths of cuts can vary because or the difference in the height of the waste board.
@DuraWoodworks4 жыл бұрын
@@crashdummy1000 yeah I’ve definitely read about that since posting this video. Not gonna lie, it scares me a bit to do that but I’m sure I’ll need to at some point haha
@crashdummy10004 жыл бұрын
@@DuraWoodworks it’s easy. There is plans on the inventible community for the waste board. Make another stock waste board with 1/4 mdf. Mount it to match the holes from stock wasted board. And plain it with a planning bit. This way your stock waste board is still good and you have a disposable waste board now. That you can replace when needed.

@@crashdummy1000 I did exactly this tonight and it worked perfectly.
