I have a few comments about the english trans so I'll list them out here: 1. 1:29 The sentence fragment 「难以企及」actually doesn't just mean "hard to reach", which is the literal meaning of the four individual characters. When put together as a phrase, it also means that there is no hope of achieving a certain goal, so it's like a vain hope, an endless pursuit, something like that. 2. 3:15 The translation says "waves", but to be exact, the chinese words 「浪花」 refer to the white sea-foam on top of the waves, which is white and hence is "pure". 3. 3:22 Original translation is "This is the only thing I have and own that is beautiful," which misinterpreted the clauses in the original sentence:「这是我拥有的所有的美丽 」- The correct translation is "This is all the beauty that I possess/own/have." The "all" is not a noun but rather an adjective and it modifies the last noun, "beauty". I'm guessing the original translator understood it as "This is all that I have, and which is beautiful." which weirdly, kind of works because Chinese is ambiguous like that, but to me, a native speaker, it just sounds weird. 4. 3:26 Original trans: "If you like it, had better give it all to you", which is just a little off track. A more accurate translation would be "If you like it, *why not* give it all to you." 5. Also this might be nitpicky but for 3:12 I wouldn't say "touched by heart", I'd say a closer translation would be "my heart is deeply moved". Thank you for reading this far, I don't usually write youtube comment essays but I loved this song a lot and would love for more people to understand the nuances of the language used here. Cheers and enjoy the song ^__^ thank u!
I love your voice and songs so much. It's just too pure for this world. Why is chinese so beautiful? I have so much trouble learning it, sometimes I wanna give up, then I listen to chinese songs and I remember why I learn it to begin with. Keep up the amazing work. ♡
