X Japan - "Art of Life" Bass Cover ベースカバー Heath Tribute 2023

The news that Heath died came a few days ago. He was one of my favorite bass players, and the news was completely unexpected. This is the first song he recorded with X after joining in 1992. I wanted to record this song after he passed, so I didn't have much time to learn it, but I did my best.

At first I figured I'd just listen a bit... but it's Art Of Life man... Ended up listening the whole way through. Definitely a good opportunity to listen more closely and get a better appreciation for the bass in this masterpiece. I'm sure it musn't be easy to just record a half-hour monster of a track like this. Phenomenal tribute to Heath!

Thank you so much, your kind comment means a lot! And yes I wanted to learn and record the song shortly following the news of his passing, but it took several hours. I can only imagine how much pressure it was for Heath to join the biggest rock band in Japan, and have to record this song as his first song with them; what a beast!
