There's another channel I won't mention I used to watch all the time for comic stuff and in recent years I just feel like they've been going downhill and getting way too negative. They reviewed this same comic and definitely missed everything you just said and I swear they would have once picked up on that. Ahh yes, thank you for voicing the same thing I'd been feeling about the code name "Temper" that they gave to Idie. The vast majority of ppl would assume it has something to do with anger, which so does not fit her personality. Took me a little bit longer to figure that sense of the name was meant to be "Temper" as in "Temperature". That said, I'm happy she's on the squad & hoping she's plays a prominent part of this X team

When Magneto described his role as tempering the early X-Men to make them stronger, I finally got the sense that Idie's name was supposed to reflect the application of heat and cold to make things more durable. It just doesn't resonate for me because that's not the most likely thing to come to mind. I'll get used to it, but it's still weird.

I'm not really the biggest fan of this first issue...but I'm willing to give it a shot. I do like the budding relationship between Magik and Juggernaut... I think that's cool. My hesitancy comes with Kid Omega. There was a lot of development with him in the krakoan age, i hope it doesn't just go away. His initial introduction here seems off a little. Another hesistation is the art. Not a big fan of that. I somewhat like the fact they taken over a sentinal factory. It reminds me of the bendis run where Cyclops took over the weapon X lab after the Avengers vs. X-men series. Time will tell on how it goes... Not a bad start.

Hey Ernie, great video. I was waiting patiently to see your thoughts on the new X-men book. I think the Krakoan might be Hellion. I'm looking at the energy projection and whenever Hellion use his power it's usually a green Hugh, and the fact that he's levitating rocks instead of metal which says alot. But I can be wrong and that's OK to, it's just exiting see how things unfold. Keep up the good work dude.

I like Jed McKay. I think his current Avengers run is one of my favorites so im willing to give some benefit of the doubt. The art's good and the lineup is interesting (and perhaps growing over time?) enough. I am pretty happy about Idie and her having a bit more agency than she has in the past. Still bums me out that they're in Alaska after being ripped violently from paradise.

First of all love the channel. I haven’t gotten or read X-men #1 yet BUT I’m a huge X fan. I like how you break comics down and give your insights. Just on this video I was thinking, could the shadow characters (the fourth school) in this X-men 1 be the kids that brought back hellfire club, aged up some? Not good in history but back in the 2000 New X-men run or it could have been early 2010. That would be very clever in story telling….

Loved the story and writing. Art bothered me at first, but then I remember I hated Bill S on New Mutants at first then loved it. Ryan’s backgrounds were awesome…many Marvel books have bland backgrounds. Loved the inclusion of the chief. Last page looked like a scene from a horror movie. Was afraid what would follow Krakoa (which I liked), this is what I needed

It wasn’t bad but something was missing for me. I like all the characters, and the Majik/Juggernaut team-up was fun moment, but idk if this would be line-up for what’s essentially an X-Men reboot. The conversation between Hank and the police chief was good too, but I also felt like “we’ve done this a dozen times before”. Even the villains feel derivative of what we’ve seen before. Not crazy about the art either, I feel like a book that’s coming at such a crucial time for the X-Men needs the best artists Marvel can throw at it. Definitely gonna keep reading but I’m not sold yet.

Temper can also mean state of mind or feelings be it calm or angry. I think blerd was referencing that when people hear of a black woman called temper it could connote the “angry black woman” stereotype. This is often used to characterize black women who are loud or very opinionated.

Magik and Juggernaut have a great dynamic (probly more than her and Colussus). I hate Tenper's Bride of Frankenstein look, nut happy that she made the roster. They need to bring in that omega lvl mutant that could control kinetic energy (the one Juggernaut saved). All in all, the concepts r nothing new or as innovative as Krakoa, but its only the 1st issue...

Good review and liking your shirt (I need to see that movie). This was the first time I enjoyed the X-Men in years and finally happy to recommend a comic book other than one from the Energon-Verse. This feels like a true continuation of Cyclops's Story after Gillen/Bendis Departure. Happy someone got Scott's Voice right. This Cyclops is effective, strategic, looking to build relationships but at the same time, has that darker edge. Its that balance I want.

Beast was making clones that he could download his personality into. Sage had a back-up, but it was a super old one. So when they revived the clone to fight Beast-prime, the personality he got is from the 80s.
