As long as they don’t do the “time travel kills young Xavier” part, they can have another take on AOA; frankly, I grow tired of reminding people they originated it in “One Man’s Worth” before the comics expanded it.

This episode showed a power-up for two different X-Men: Jean Grey was able to throw a building into the bay without fainting afterword, and Morph is now not only able to just mimic a mutant's appearance but their abilities as well. Rogue has def gone dark. Ross is right, Bastion is a merging of Master Mold and Nimrod. It's interesting as the human sentinels are very similar to DC Comic's OMAC units. And while they've shown X-Factor several times, and even Strong Guy in this episode, they omit the fact that X-Factor are U.S. government mutant agents. Why they haven't continued with that storyline is beyond me. I can't wait for episodes 8-10. P.S. Rob rocks

I loved this episode. It feels like the X-Men are losing faith in Xavier's dream. Morph's reaction was great. He was genuinely horrified at what Rogue did. To see him questioning if this was who they were now made it feel like the team could split based on differing ideas on how to deal with the injustice of the world. Yay, we got Wolverine and Jubilee father-daughter bond from the original series, and we got Nightcrawler and Rouge sibling bond. Happy to see both of those things here.

I legitimately almost had a brain aneurysm of awesomeness with this episode. From the funeral,to seeing Captain america my favorite hero meet Rogue who is my favorite Marvel babe,to Rogue's rampage ending with meeting Nightcrawler and then that fucking amazing Shot of the xmen reuniting,beast shutting down the reporter again,to Rogue just Dropping Trask like it was nothing to me still wondering who the villian is. Either thats a fake Magneto or this dude pulled something slick to grab Magneto during the Genosha Massacre. He said to Sinister "You the textbook in What NOT TO DO!" OH MY GOODNESS I mean holy crap this episode was awesome. I said it once....the Xmen are the Wu tang Clan of the Comic book universe. Each individual character is so good but when they unite....the 36 chambers are unleashed.

Madeline died in Genosha but the Phoenix Force saved her and will be back for the finale. It would explain why they keep teasing the Phoenix so much in the intros and how Xavier received the psychic vision of Genosha all the way across the galaxy

Ironically, the fact Magneto survived the blast - the *green* blast that’s distinct from the red laser that actually turned people to ashes - just makes me more hesitant to believe that Madelyne Pryor really is dead. In part because it’s still more interesting than her conveniently dying when she apparently did (whereas Remy dying actually accentuates the drama for Rogue, with or without Magneto surviving). Also… it’s just the death I thought was lesser than either of the other two sticking for real. Though, I do like the Emma fakeout, whether or not she becomes a member later on or not. I think Bastion was in XMTAS, but it’s not as clear to me how and in what capacity. I will say, though he’s taking the role of Cassandra Nova, it fits for his MO; that, and having an established villain works for what he tells Sinister (who I’m less sure than last episode will end the season dead, now that he’s not *the* Big Bad of this plotline). I find I really like the cameos from the 90s MAU; Ross was in the “Hulk” show and Cap appeared in SMTAS Season 4, I believe? He definitely guest-starred in “Avengers: United They Stand” in its singular Season 1 unless my perception of reality is muddled. Finally, with Kurt pretty much an official member now (something the original writers considered decades ago, if not in this manner)… do we get my girl Katherine Pryde next season as the new newcomer? Please, Marvel Studios…?

My first thought was in marvel, no body means something some no funeral for Magneto meant something. Bastion is the offspring of Nimrod and Mastermold from a future timeline. All of this could lead to Xfactor, Xcalibur, Onslaught if Bastion brainwashes Magneto because Charles will have to take him down by shutting his brain off and that’s how Onslaught gets out. Bastion came through the Siege Perilous, the omniversal gateway guarded by Roma, Roma is the daughter of Merlyn and he started the Captain Britain Corp. That’s all from the storyline where the Xmen die fighting the Adversary in Dallas and Roma thought their fight was so brave and heroic that she resurrected them. That resurrection made the X-men invisible to all technology on earth, they set up base in Australia and operated from there, that all happens before the Inferno story where Madelyne became the Goblin queen. This show is mixing storylines out of order but I am not mad about it at all, the writing is so good. The Sentinel Primes are terrifying because they don’t know they have been hybridized until they are activated, so normal people are just living their lives and click, they turn into cyborg murder machines. Sinister is one that alters Gambit’s powers in the books after Gambit meets a variant of himself that has the power of a god, it scares Gambit and he goes to Sinister to put genetic blockers in so his power can never evolve to that level, so he could have his body 🤔

I actually think the real Jean is who we now think it’s Madelyne. I think Beast lied when he gave the test results (he lied also about other things like the virus only having cure in the future). So it was all along Jean (yes she would be the mother of cable in this version) and the clone arrived in episode 3. This is why cable says “you’re not her” (by her he meant Jean, not Madelyne). This would also justify why Scott would have such a connection with her and would also justify the behavior of kissing Logan out of the blue and invading Scotts mind to find out the cheating (it was the clone; Jean wouldn’t really act like that, she has strong ethics concerning invading minds). This would also justify why she has all memories. If you watch again episode 3, the part of the reveal, she really says she is Jean and even after the test she says Storm would have believed me (because Beast also lied to Storm saying she was depowered permanently in episode 2). But these are all my thoughts! 😆

Potential spoilers for the direction: Considering all the easter eggs and how well done this is written, consider Val Cooper = Mystique, working for Bastion. Cooper tries to take Magneto in ep 2, wild sentinel pauses when he sees Cooper during the genocide. Its never explained in 1992 why, mystique attempts to assassinate the president AS Gambit in the episodes leading to Days of Future Past, where this is based. Someone mentioned in 1992, when Jean reads Cable, the picture of Scott and Jean, but, Jeans hair was down, and the creator confirmed that was supposed to be a Madelyne arc. Consider Bastions been around the entire time, SINCE saturday morning in 1992. I keep forgetting this show is a continuation and not a sequel persay. Also, the opening lines in this 97 series, the FoH and what they say. "Hes gonna give us $10k for EACH mutant?" Who is "he?" And, they have upgraded sentinel technology. Bastion goons. Sinister's old group from 1992, on the savage land, brain child, amphibious, etc, were seen cleaning up genosha (finding mystique? Gathering intel?) I doubt this is an Onslaught arrangement presently, but moreso Operation Wake Up or whatever it was called. But i will say, i think a new "Age" is coming. And a certain trump card has never been more pale. I heard somewhere in the comics the current team of xmen are actually Bastion tech, and it was a Bastion tech Gambit that died, and this leads into actual Gambit becoming horseman, Death. Adler was never alive technically in the series either, the creator of Forges collar, that was always Mystique, he was dead at that point. And who was Mystique working for? Apocalypse. This would tie Mystique, Sinister, Bastion and Apocalypse together since those episodes. The collar, the sentinels, and the days of future past. I was sold on the Nova theory, i actually didnt think the Watcher cameo was Watcher at first, but Cassandra. But they confirmed Nova isnt the direction they were taking i think. Between the Hulk reference, C.A., and the stark industries building, i think if the avengers did make an appearance, itd be to assist in the coming three episodes, aside from charles and storm. I dont think theyre gonna do AvX yet though. I like the leech sapping magnetos power into unrecognizable as a mutant concept, woth the wild sentinel thinking he killed the both of them, unless it was manipulated by Bastion to specifically do exactly what it did to make it seem erik died. Just random thoughts i had, i could be way off. I think Apocalypse is how we get Gambit back, and i think Wolverines exclamation to Madelyne about to give birth ("Who? Apocalypse?!") was written foreshadowing. Oh, and Trask was ALWAYS a prime sentinel, even in 1992, but activated on death.

uncanny x-men 184 forge is introduced and talks about his tribal life before he joined the military, you see a hologram he made of his mentor(a cheyenne medicine man) this whole arc for the next 6 comics was about forge storm and dire wraiths uncanny x-men 225 you get to see forges past as next in line as a medicine man and their job of keeping demons at bay using cheyenne magic and you learn about the adversary. all of this was in the same run of comics that lifedeath happened. not trying to be mean but if you know about lifedeath not sure how you don't know about forge being cheyenne and a medicine man.

@@LegendsofPodcasting these writers have been cleaning up the messy storylines of the comics. when claremont made maddy he genuinely wanted to give cyclops a happy ending after the death of his love jean grey. when the marvel brought cyclops back they made him leave his new wife and son unintentionally making him a bad dad. these writers have fix inferno they did made life death better by not making the adversary look like he does in the comics(forges mentor infected with a space parasite than taken over by the adversary ultimately looking like a rasta native american demon) even e is for extinction was executed in the comics in like 3 pages at the very beginning of the comic, these writers make it far more dramatic. this series so far has been the best iteration of x-men ive seen, including the comics specifically because its being handled by one team.

I don’t know much about Bastion (if that’s the main villains name) but he is a master manipulator! By attacking Genosha he’s made mutants hate humans even more and because the humans are more concern with relation than actually helping survivors it just strengths that hate even though human had nothing to due with the attack. He’s done a great job breaking the X-Men’s faith and has done a great job ruining their image, by killing Trask and framing Rouge and now revealing that they lied about Professor X death it will make humans more mistrustful of them. And lord only knows what he has planed for Magneto

When I heard Bastion speak, at first I thought it sounded like Neal Mcdonagh ( Damian Darke, amongst many others ). But it is in fact Theo James. I was also wondering if the Magneto that Bastion has is a clone, or if the one we have been watching was a clone and this is the original?? But somebody pointed out he is wearing his gala clothes, so possibly not.

It's been a good chunk of time since X-Men TAS, Cap could have been rescued or found a way out. At minimum, it's been 9 months since the ending of TAS.

Beyonder plucked Red Skull out of the... Vortex, I think it was called, in Spider-Man TAS's Secret Wars episodes, and Spider-Man used the alien device (maybe boosted by Beyonder, I don't remember exactly) to bring Captain America from there too. At the end of Secret Wars, Beyonder returned everyone (except Spider-Man) to their rightful place with no memory of this event, but still, it shows that it is not impossible to get Cap out of there. Whether it requires cosmic being-levels of power or not is a separate question.

To be fair this wouldn't be the first time this X-Men animated series retconned things. In the original cartoon it was clear Xavier, Scott, and Jean had no idea who Angel was when he first showed up in the first appearance, but in later seasons they retconned so Angel was part of the original five X-Men team. If this series retconned Captain America's final fate from Spider-Man the animated series it is fitting to the original.
