"Charles Xavier entrusted me with his dream, and it does not ask you to love or embrace my kind as your own. But merely to accept that this i a shared world with a common future and that my kind, like yours, have the right to live in it" is a line that could not have been more relevant unless it had been spoken 90 years ago in the 1930s. as a Trans person it was Jarring hearing those words so overtly and feeling for the first time that a piece of media was taking a stance and making its stance as clear cut as possible. it was the most genuine set of words i have ever heard, and i had never felt so empowered in my life. I dont think ill ever forget that feeling. i have that clip saved on YT so that whenever i need it, the X-Men will be there to remind me that i do have a place in this world, and i have a right to be here as does everyone else, differences be dammed. the show did not need to do this for me to be a fan. i have always loved the X-Men. and the new art style and the way the Characters use their abilities both on and off the battle field is so creative and awesome that this show already had me hooked. what was just as Jarring as Magnetos words was my internal reaction to hearing the word mutant and freak used as a slur by Friends of Humanity members. because both are things i have been called in real life. those aren't stand in slurs or backhanded comments swapped out. they ARE MY experience with bigotry. and every time i heard those words being used to describe me as if i wasn't a person, it hurt sure, but I'm not ashamed of who i am. i know I'm different. i don't need the world to constantly remind me and treat me as such. and whenever it does it just proves to me why stories like X-Men are important. because they are real in the ways that matter. Sentinels aren't real, i (unfortunately cant shoot lasers from my eyes). but the injustice, the bigotry, the hate thrown at the Trans and wider Queer community IS real. and were not the only community to face this. i dont even know WHY I'm saying all this but i felt compelled to. to have my voice heard even if its just as a blur on someone phone as they scroll through a YT comment section. But i think that just speaks more to the affect this show and in particular that quote i started with had on me. i will never forget that. which is saying something because ask phone, i forget thing very easily lol.

That entire speech is why Magneto is the Master of Magnatism. He was a holocost survivor and he shared the philosophy of Malcolm X and they did finally hit that nail on the head with this entire speech. When I was 15 and found out that Prof X and Magneto echoed MLK and Malcolm X I fell in love with the X-men. I must say, Beau did this series justice, I do wish that he could be asked to come back despite whatever happened. This is what the world needs in 2024 even though this is in 1997.

Gonna be honest with u, I expected a Masters of the Universe type of bait and switch with this series. I was afraid of it until the very last moment when I finished watching ep 2. And I can safely say that the series manages to juggle the themes of intolerance and persecution with the grace many shows and movies failed to do so nowadays. No pandering, no liberal-arts-major discourse, any of this bs. Jean is allowed to be afraid that her son will be a mutant and not get hammered by Storm, but rather met with compassion. Storm on the other hand is stripped of her powers in a great scene, which will lead to Life Death, instead of making her another Mary Sue. And the list goes on. The writers have read the comics and it appears they know exactly what theyre down. They know X-men doesn't need pandering to be representative. You just need to show the characters for who they are.

There’s so much power in what Magneto says. “The brave are always the first to die” - this guy is a Holocaust survivor, and if that wasn’t enough some of those who made it with him rejected him for being a mutant. You can see how that made him take a hard stance; nevertheless, he loved Xavier so much that he’s willing to look his demonic oppressors in the face and shake their hands. Even in death, Charles is the only one capable of influencing Magneto in such a way.

I'll be honest, so far, Magneto is being characterised perfectly. He's still as brutal and vindictive as he always was, but now he's not fighting for his own dream but carrying on Charles' , so he must try to be a better person if for no other reason than to make his friend proud of him from beyond the grave. All the while making it clear that, if pushed too far, he WILL go on the warpath like he usually does.

@@gabriielskyline great! I actually thought it was going to be aimed at kids-similarly to how the animated Justice League show was from the early 2000s. By that I mean older kids with adult themes; glad to know it’s not really aimed at kids, though.

Magneto's dilemma really tugs at the heartstrings, doesn't it? It's like being stuck between a rock and a hard place, having to make those tough calls even when you'd rather not. But props to him for ultimately choosing the high road. And yeah, this show is hitting all the right notes-it's pure gold!

Love it because it's sincere rather than pointless bravado. You believe he is trying to be better and you better believe things are going to get ugly if you push him further. "“Beware the fury of a patient man, especially if said patient man is just a step away from genocidal rage" or something such.
@gabriielskyline
@gabriielskyline Ай бұрын
Absolutely, that sincerity adds a layer of depth to his character, making his journey towards improvement more believable and compelling. Plus, when a patient person finally snaps, it's like unleashing a storm you never saw coming! "Beware the fury of a patient man, especially when he's one step away from a rage that could move mountains!"
