So in the original cut they never explained how the sentinels found them and planned a mass assault near the end. In the Rogue cut it is revealed that a Sentinel had physically put a tracking device on the ship. This was one of those plot holes that really confused me. After watching the rogue cut, there were many inconsistencies that finally made sense.

Going by comic book lore, the sentinel's technically didn't kill Bobby, he is an omega level mutant. He can regenerate from this. even if they reduced him to nothing, he had already phased into his ice form. Meaning he could still regenerate his physical form based off of his mutation and the moisture in the air. Had he not been in ice form then yeah he totally would be dead.

Wow I have never seen this Rogue cut until now. It makes so much more perfect sense on the plot of the film. Yes, Rogues mutant power can help replicate the powers of other mutants, thats how the Sentinels adapted and are able to use the appropriate counter power against the mutant they are fighting, and with Mystiques power, Sentinels are able to transform into those different powers by transforming their body structure. Definitely, most definitely should have released this version on the films release.

While I think X-Men: Days of Future Past's theatrical cut is a great film, and a tightly done film, I definitely prefer The Rogue Cut. It's successful juggling of moving parts turns it into a more exciting, time travel epic, and it's use of Rogue and that whole side trip is very exciting for fans of the original trilogy. Also, it does feel more realistic to me that Rogue enters the picture to save the day considering the cuts Kitty endures from Wolverine. In addition to that, the reason Rogue is being kept alive is due to her value regarding aiding the Sentinels' abilities - Mystique allows them to copy the cell structure of other people, but it is Rogue that allows them to copy mutants' abilities. As well as just making more narratively satisfying sense, this adds cool and dynamic mythology to the film and ties Rogue into the story seamlessly too. I wish The Rogue Cut is the cut in continuity, and I have a feeling fans will strongly agree. Perhaps, it was thought that the Rogue stuff would distract from the characters in the prequel series, but all that is still there, and it's not going anywhere. *Altering The Rogue Cut* In The Rogue Cut, it is not stated that Rogue DNA combined with Mystique DNA is the key to giving the advanced Sentinels, their abilities, or that the importance of Rogue's cells are the reason she's being held captive and kept alive. It explained how the people of the sentinel project where able to manage combine powers together, actually studying the Stepford Cuckoos and stricter siblings who can do this. Pretty interesting

This cut makes SO MUCH MORE sense...it created a need for Rogue to show up (Logan severely injuring Kitty), then the use of great match-cuts (Magneto in the Xavier mansion and the Pentagon vault), and then Magneto, Xavier and Rogue escaping gives us a definitive and plausible reason on how the Sentinels found the X-Men hiding in the Chinese mountains. Also, Rogue being at the end didn't feel less important, it felt more important...but then too, Kitty should've been there in the end too...and Colossus. All in all though, I do not understand why they didn't use this version first....probably because then people would've asked "why didn't they get Rogue sooner than when they NEEDED her the most? She is an X-Men after all..."

He wants to create a better universe, which he sees mass genocide as an option due to his upbringing and warlord status. Same, but it depends on Anna Paquin herself too if MCU gave the opportunity for Paquin to return. If she said yes, i would absolutely be happy with it, Paquin was great as Rogue, the filmmakers treated the character so fucking dirty with the limited screentime she had, Rogue and Paquin deserved better.....

@@800Ms-k6n Yeah they did ROgue so dirty. The first movie was understandable as sort of a origin story, but then they never developed her at all. I hope we see Rogue in the Marvels movie, or at least hints of her, foreshadowing an absorption of Carol Danvers. At this point I don't think Anna would return, though. Maybe time to pass the baton to a new cast for xmen-MCU. Someone like Alexandra Daddario would be interesting. Alycia Debnam Carey, too - she's shown in several roles that she can nail the badassery you need for a heavy-hitter Rogue.

Everyone who died in the opening tended to die the same way again (apart from Sunspot). They melt Warpath's face twice, Blink always gets impaled, something of poor Colossus is always ripped off/in half, and Bobby of course melts 2-3 times. Dying by way of fire must be awful for anyone, but it seems especially mean when that person is made of ice.

The little details are everything, like the way Erik has let Charles into his mind no problem, and the way Charles smiles when Erik calls the steel wall a “door,” and the fact that Erik doesn’t kill the humans experimenting on Rogue despite his rage because he knows Charles wouldn’t approve of that. They really act like an old married couple, protecting their grandkids.

This should have been included in the final version since it established how the sentinels got their ability to copy mutant powers. I know that they got hold of Mystique's DNA through her blood but it did not explain how the sentinels were able to get their powers (Mystique only mimics appearance, not power).

TBH, it should not be Mystique's DNA as the source of the Sentinels' powers. It could've came from Darwin from First Class since he can adapt to anything.

It wasn't DNA specific to Mystiques abilities they pulled from her.. It was the single mutant gene that ALL mutants have that they got from Mystique. That one gene is the basis for every power that every mutant has. That's how the sentinals were able to reproduce them and become immune to them no matter what those powers were.

The overall acting, pacing, and look of the scene can't be overstated as great, but it's the film's score here that _really_ blows me away. Henry Jackman and John Ottoman both knocked it out of the park with these films. The continuous thumping beat, and how every aspect of the melody compliments it as it builds in intensity. Excellent!
