A-Frame, I'm looking to start speedrunning and recording X-Men and (gulp), Sword of Sodan (yes, that game). Can you recommend me a hardware/software setup for recording? Typically I play on a Genesis 1 model using the yellow RCA video to a Philips tube TV from 2002, and I output the Genesis audio through the stereo jack to some PC speakers.

Hey, great. I've been using the same setup for a while: Console -> Retrovision Cables -> Retrotink 2x-Pro -> ElGato HD60s -> OBS Studio (where the actual recording occurs) That is overkill at the start. I think my first setup used an RCA splitter combined with some adapter to just get the gameplay to my computer. I had some program for recording, but I don't remember what it was. Your best bet may be to check out different capture guides and see what will work for you.

@@AFrameWhich model Genesis do you run? Also, did you notice on the RetroTINK 2X-Pro webpage is says "Caution: Sega Genesis and PS1/PSOne composite video generates off-spec signals and may not work correctly. For Sega Genesis, we recommend the HD Retrovision Cables." In your setup you said you use both Retrotink and the Retrovision cable. No issues?

Honestly, a gawd AWFUL game. Every kid thought that they were going to get the "arcade version." It's amazing how the awesome art work duped us into buying this game or justified us into repeatedly renting it again and again from the video store..

It was my first Genesis game.. I loved it.... Couldn't figure out how to "reset computer" tho. So that was frustrating
