It's so crazy to think Chris was so insecure about his performance as Gambit when he totally nailed the part and made it his own. He really got the coolness factor of Gambit and the vulnerability of him. Every actor afterward tried to mimic what he did. Chris set the standard for Gambit

Yea Gambit was definitely my favorite. I think the main problem is there's so few actors that can pull off his bravado and cajun accent at the same time. Think there's even writers that don't know how to write for Gambit just due to having to insert cajun phrases into the writing. The Rogue + Gambit romance was also the most interesting in my opinion as although Gambit was a ladies' man the only girl he wanted was the one he couldn't have, Rogue. Lenore also brought Rogue to life better than any other actor so far. She's a badass southern belle, not a damsel in distress.

It's funny, I grew up in the South, so Rogue sounded like she could have been a girl living down the street from me. It felt so perfect and authentic. Beast combined this wisdom with a dry but gentle sense of humor, and Gambit was this charmer who was also a sweet person under it all. Yet all that said, they embodied both the power and the vulnerability in such a way that no other voice will ever sound quite right for me.

Cyclops was always seen as a goody two shoes and kind of wimpy. Norm brought this masculine presence to Cyclops with his voice and really made Cyclops a character to respect. He could stand toe to toe with a legendary character like Wolverine and not be emasculated at all. Norm definitely brought the respect that Cyclops deserved. I'm really sad to hear of his passing and wish the best to his family. Part of his legacy that will live on is that Norm will always be the defining Cyclops for so many of us and no other actor will ever be able to live up to what he brought. Rest in peace Norm.

Funny how a show aimed at kids was the most accurate and faithful representation of the the source material. But so glad it is, however being animated makes some people dismiss it as a kids cartoon. I have to agree shows like bug's bunny are cartoons but shows like X-men the animated series are just that a series. Kids and adults alike can enjoy this show if they take the time to look beyond the animated characters to find the well written story.

@@matthew-005 That's the secret for why this show has such longevity and resonates with people of all ages - it might be an animated show but it was one of the first that wasn't condescending to kids and was brave enough to tackle more "mature" subjects and the kids of the time really responded well to not being treated like fragile idiots. Modern movie makers of many different franchises (not just X-Men) could stand to learn a lot from this series - stay true to the source, respect your audience, write compelling stories and watch the money come in.

You have to understand when this was made and what network it was on. FOX was the number 1 network in the country at the time with highly rated shows and cartoons. It would've still been big if it were on any other network but FOX just made it that much bigger by having it as part of its FOX kids lineup. I remember a couple of months before it was released on October 31st 1992 (Halloween), Fox would constantly air ads promoting the hell out of this series. Unfortunately we will never see anything like Fox in the 90s again due to the lack of people who watch TV today. It paved the way for Marvel to be the global empire it is today. With movies, animated series, etc in the following years. How the X Men were portrayed on this animated series was incredible. This is how the X Men should be portrayed. Then Bryan Singer came along and fucked these legendary characters up with his movies. Days of Future Past is the only X Men movie I like. Hugh did a great job as Wolverine but the rest of the X Men aren't comparable to the ones in the animated series.

Wow, had no idea they did the TV show voices (studio) in Toronto, Canada (my hometown)! Another reason to be proud to be Canadian. RIP Norm you were an icon, a role model for so many growing up, just by his voice on the show anyone could sense he must be a great guy, and an amazing talent. Thank you Allison for sharing that sentiment about not really seeing or hearing of a Black superhero back then, and to hear Storm was actually voiced by a Black woman (which didn't have to be the case) is phenomenal and was rare back then.

I’m kind of upset no one mentioned Bishop when that came up considering he’s the first black male X-Man. Alongside Magneto, he was on the show a dozen times and was basically an unofficial member of the team. It’s sad he doesn’t get any recognition because he’s a cool character.

Thank you all for your work on the show I have aspergers syndrome and I got bullied and shunned in school because my condition made me different. And attempted suicide since I was 8 because of how badly I was treated and often beaten up sometimes to the point of needing medical treatment. I kinda felt like a mutant, people hated me because I was different I don't follow trends, use slang or swear I like what I like and be myself mostly. I was also top of the class most of the time often with perfect scores on tests. I can also hear, smell and see in the dark alot better than "normal" people and have very quick reflexes which made me feel like I really did have mutant powers. However the down side is the intelligence and fast reflexes and acute senses come at a price I suffer migraines, collapses and find bright lights and high pitched noises extremely painful and strong smells cause dizziness and fainting spells. The show made feel like people knew this kind of discrimination was wrong and that something needed to be done. So I have tryed to help others suffering from bullying and discrimination but even the outcasts hated me mainly because being around me got them more harassment from the other kids. I still watch the show and am trying to get my sisters kids to watch it but youtube, spongebob (terrible show) and minecraft seem to be their main interests. I would like thank you all for helping get through a very tough time in my life. And my condolences for the loss of your friend Norm Spencer and my favourite X-man Cyclops.

@@Immortal_Liberty I used to work at Co--op shop till my collapses made it impossible to work there. I enjoyed it as I was allowed to help many of the customers who had problems due to their age. I would read things, reach high items, help them to their car I even took an old lady home once. Some customers were deaf so I began learning sigh language to try to help them better. I have become locally well known due to my time working in the shop and my ex-customers often say hi or that they wish I was still working at the Co-op. Unfortunately I am still waiting for a diagnosis for my collapses until then I am kinda stuck. Hopefully it's just stress and medication will stop the collapses and I can finally go back to work.

Well, Aspergers and autism are mutations. We're literally the mutants. I found it very shocking reading this. I have aspergers. I get terrible headaches as well. But, while I can not see in the dark (arguably a cooler power by the way) I was born with basically the real life equivalent of the Wolverine healing factor. 9 suicide attempts from loneliness (a issue I did overcome) but I just keep regenerating. I didn't even want this "gift" I wanted to be a shapeshifter. But I have been shot, stabbed, poisoned, had a fatal virus in my jaw (twice - had to have my wisdom teeth removed), hung by the neck, honestly at this point I forgot the list. Because this crap is so common. It's been terrible. I had to watch my grandparents die, even my own daughter. She died in my arms from a chemical I use to make plastic figures that I collect. One of the lids wasn't on properly and the fumes gave her cancer. Utterly heartbreaking. My point, yes, X-Men is great for people like us. It shows us we're not alone. I'm very grateful Stan Lee wrote the X-Men. It made me feel so much better. When kids were bullying me beating my face in with rocks and the teacher said I deserved it for having aspergers it was very trumatic. It's really nice to read your comment and see I'm not alone.

@@byronburton6699 Yes. No one else besides Ron voiced Morph... in his natural form. But Morph did sometimes transform into the other X-Men characters, especially during the "evil Morph" arc in the series' second season. For a long time, X-Men was my favorite animated series ever and it made me so sad to hear Norm passed away. He WAS Cyclops to me and whenever he was on other shows, I recognized his voice and was like “Hey that’s Cyclops!” I believe he was even in an ep of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and he was helping Captain Sisko and he said something like “Are you alright?” and I recognized him just from that line. I’m rewatching X-Men just having gotten Disney+ and having a blast. I just want to say in conclusion X-Men and X-Men: Evolution are two of my favorite animated series ever and people ask me which is my favorite or which is better. I just tell them they’re both equally great. I can never pick a favorite and they’re just awesome. That’s the best way I can say it and this has been a rough year for everyone. I’m so grateful that I have great shows like the two X-Men shows and the Nickelodeon show Wolverine and The X-Men to watch and enjoy. So much fun and thank you to everyone for doing such a wonderful reunion and tribute. I’m 41 years old and I remember reading issue after issue of Wizard and Starlog and being so frustrated that the show kept getting delayed when it came to the premiere on Fox Kids. It premiered on Halloween if I remember correctly and I fell head over heels for the show from episode one. It was definitely worth the wait. Thank you again for making this big kid very happy.

Classic! Seeing this makes me realize that I haven't be appreciative of the voice actors who brought these characters to life. This series was my first exposure to X Men. Great job guys!

Absolute legends....it is because of them, cyclops/rogue/wolverine and the likes still sound the way they do in my head.....so much so I need to hear these voices in any interpretation of these characters!

This was really touching and made me get teary-eyed seeing and hearing all of them. That series has touched so many people, me included, and even though I know how popular and meaningful it was, I still get awestruck by hearing them talk about it. Thanks so much for arranging this and posting it. I wish all of the panelists good health and happiness.
