That's probably what Hickman's original plan was, but the rest of the X-office wanted to stay in Krakoa for longer. To explore more uncharted territories. And that's also why Hickman left.

After X of Swords, I left X-Men alone. Powers/House of X was my favorite X-Men title in the past decade. Just disliked how the storylines spread across 3 or more X-Men titles and the main series lacked a concrete story to keep you reading.
