Volunteer no pay hor.. if not don't call Volunteer liao, but Foreigner volunteer because of .. wanting to get PR faster... so can get house some even aim for jobs or Citizenship
If you're a Singaporean male, in your 20s or early 30s, are able to marry a Singaporean female, and get on the property ladder with Government BTO subsidies, then vis-a-vis a foreigner, those 2 to 2.5 years of National Service are not "wasted". But if you're a single Singaporean male below 35 (or a Singaporean male married to a non-PR), whether by choice or otherwise, you will feel the full impact of the policies working against you, and you will start questioning if it is indeed better to be a first-generation PR instead.

First Generation PR below 25 also need to serve NS. Many Malaysian who is living in Johor Bahru who studied in Singapore also served NS for 2 year.

@@jly5828 that's true only if you obtained your PR before starting your career. If you first entered Singapore on an Employment Pass and then subsequently convert to PR, then voila, you get all the perks without the sacrifices.
