Chinese New Year is not Lunar New Year.

Lunar means moon. New Year date has been selected from the moon calendar. Left half moon. Right half moon and Full Moon for each night and so on. There are sequences of moon changing appreance. It is not a solar calendar like West. Therefore, it is the correct and legitimate name. Chinese calendar depends on Moon. Yangzi river tide depends on Moon. Moon does not need any nationality for changing appreance. Even Chinese people celebrate Moon Cake or Mid Autumn festival. It can not be changed as the name of the Chinese cake festival.
