Another superb video. A fine showcase of flight planning , single pilot IFR technique, troubleshooting , recovery and airmanship. The GPS glitch shows the narrow tolerances associated with IFR. Never had this kind of teaching during training for my rating . Great to be in the jump seat for the lesson .

My flying is very limited to single engine piston , so apologies for this Q . At the beginning when trying to decrease speed is winding the throttle back further not recommended ?

It was at idle for in flight. Normally the propeller acts the same as a variable pitch on something like a C182, except for at low power. I’ll steal a passage that describes why rather well.. ‘When the power lever is moved below the flight idle position, the system goes into beta control mode. Propeller pitch is then directly controlled by the power lever. Therefore selection of a power setting below flight idle in flight is likely to result in a severe propeller overspeed and resultant high, potentially dangerous drag. Such high drag scenario is likely to result in loss of control.’ The saab has a physical lock in the power lever mechanism that will prevent moving them below flight idle unless it senses main gear locked down and either a main gear wheel speed of 25 kts or main gear weight on wheel microswitch closed.
