X-Plane 12 | Reality Expansion Pack (REP) | Beech Baron 58

Hi, I own a real 2005 BE-58 Beechcraft Baron, N515RG. The models are really really good and the work to make all these models and give out all the correct procedures is impressive. Here are the procedures you got wrong and this is right out of the manual Section IV. You do not lean the mixture when taxiing. If the mixure is a little rich it will not foul the plugs. It is really dangerous to lean the mixture when taxiing for takeoff because if you forget to go full rich on takeoff you could quickly destroy your engines. I have seen some pilots play around with leaning to save fuel but it is not in the flight manual. I am a by the book former military fighter pilot and 30 year airline captain. After landing do not lean either, it's not in the book. Your technique for starting the big Continental IO-550s is wrong. Cold engine, it's mixture full rich, the prop should already be full forward, and throttle full forward. Go boost pump high for about 3 seconds when about warm or about 6 seconds when 32f. Then bring throttle back to idle and up a half an inch. It will start right up. Do not start or stop the engine with the avionics master on is very very good advice. Do not pull the props to feather after engine shutdown, it makes no sense and is not in the book. You are pronouncing cowls wrong..... it's like ca-wools. If you want a career as a pilot, know you procedures cold, be humble even if you are the captain, do it by the book all the time....

I am doing my multi engin training on similar plane, it looks realistic, the buffeting and stall are much improved, this help me to practice and save a lot on my training :)

I’ve had the Cessna 172 and Beech Baron 58 for a few years now in X-Plane 11, and love them. One tip I can provide is to go into your Maintenance page of the kneeboard and disconnect the batteries if you aren’t going to be flying at least weekly. Otherwise, you’ll have to charge the batteries, and if I remember correctly, that will take about an hour, and you won’t be able to fly during that time. I don’t know if there is the ability to “jump start” the engines.

Are the tyres "blowing" when you are landing or taxiing? Check the parking brake is not engaged and your feet are off the toe-brakes. Also worth checking your control and keyboard settings. Hope you get it sorted, it really is a very nice aircraft to operate.

Nice review of that add on! Curious I’m thinking of getting a HOTAS for under 300 USD can’t spring for the warthog and don’t have interest in the warthog as it’s expensive and you have to buy rudder pedals. And I’m thinking of the X56 or Thrustmaster FCS. I don’t like to get a yoke as I want to fly more then GA planes and jets. Any recommendations?

Glad you enjoyed the video, if you are looking for a yoke replacement, I recommend the Thursmaster TCA flight stick (Airbus edition). It is excellent and comes in at a good price for someone on a budget.

I have both controllers but prefer the Thrustmaster. It just gives a better response on my set up, combined with the Saitek rudder pedals it's very good and a fair price.

The simcoders side menus do not work on my PC. I have complained to Simcoders and they said its just my PC and need to wait for Laminer Research to update XP12. They said nobody else has this problem, its just me.

You can't drag XP11 over no. But once you install XP12 you are good to go.
