At 17:25 there is a wrong statement. if passing alternating current to the x-ray tube it would explode. In fact, this is called self rectification and until recently was commonly found in entry-level dental units.

Interesting point. I was being a little facetious, but I'm not talking about dental units. I'm talking rotating anodes. For stationary anode tubes (dental stuff), which operate at a few hundred watts, the impedance is high meaning it contains a lot of resistance so in case of an arc damage to the tube and sensitive electronics is minimized. Self rectification wins the day. A rotating anode tube operates under much higher power conditions sometimes over 100 kilowatts or almost 1000 times a stationary anode. Here the supply cannot have high impedance otherwise it would not support the required power. High voltage cables and voltage multiplier capacitors store such energy and damage to the tube in an arc can result. For the purposes of my students "explode" works fine.

Even though the word "explode" works fine, it still is improper to say it will explode when it won't. It just won't conduct any current or make x-ray while the voltage is reversed.
