I wish I had a freind like you around when I was younger coming up . I rode solo.... before people welded to survive or cared about welding because of money .. I have been through so much hell in my welding life and career but having a buddy like you around when I was younger would have raised my spirits so much .. . I'm not that old but I'm a diehard welder and I ride with my welding family ... Listen to this man he has a huge passion for welding and his career , we love welding and that clean money we all have to have to survive 🤣🤠🦅💪

To our friends outside the United States. The field downhill of pipe is used to prevent excess heat ( joules ) as going uphill can be done SLOWLY which overheats the pipe and even when it looks good the alloy of the pipe ( HAZ heat affected zone ) now may be compromised. With downhill the weld puddle will spill over the rod and have porosity. Heavy schedule 160 wall may be welded uphill as the heat is absorbed by the massive thickness of the pipe. Preheat and post heat needs to be monitored on carbon and the WPS NEEDS TO BE FOLLOWED TO THE LETTER. You will be called back for more work if you are known as a heads up welder. Watch your argon lines so equipment does not get park on top and stop.your purge.

With carbon pipe it depends on what code 1104 or 31.3 I’ve welded carbon where any suck back on the root had to be repaired. Depends on the owners and what they will let by and the code

My man Rico. Thank you for the videos. It is so nice to have someone like your explain what your doing and willing to help us and give us positive encouragement and not negative sh*t that a lot of people do. Much respect to you. Wish you would come to NJ and open a school here. I would be interested in partnering the start up cost you would just have to teach it. No welding class within 100 miles of me and i know tons of people who want to go. Just cant make it happen with their jobs they currently have to hold before they can get certified welding

Get yourself familiar with the code you are welding in that is what passes x-ray. It's all in black and white. The codes are vastly different on every type of inclusion. One thing they all have in common is a nice clean weld is a nice clean weld. Practice and stay focused and you will not have to worry about failing any NDT not just x-ray.
