Beachcomber was always one of my favorite Minibots, because its robot mode was very nicely proportioned, without having TOO many issues with the vehicle mode (compared to the Superdeformed look of, say, Windcharger, Bumblebee, and Cliffjumper).

You know that part of the engine block that slides up? Mine was not budging. Mine was like... fused together. I watched three OTHER tutorial videos just to make sure that I understood which part to slide, and yeah. Mine was not budging at all, felt like it was going to snap. So, I started wiggling around the joint, trying to budge it. Guess what!? Turns out the sliding part of the engine block WAS fused to the chrome cylinder heads. Its like they didn't wait for the chrome to dry and the blue C shape got fused to the paint. SO, not only did I nearly break the thing trying to do a seemingly simple step, but freeing up the piece did a number on the chrome. Fun. Also, my roll bars come unpegged at that same spot that you are curious about being common amongst others. Just pops right off. I find its easier to transform if I part-form the roll cage in this manner.

I have a G2 Beachcomber, and he's metallic GREEN. For some reason, of the mini autobots they reissued for G2, he was the only one whose colour scheme was completely altered.

10:14 The engine and rollbar remind me of that one boss from Gunstar Heroes that was just disembodied teeth, a clown nose and giant googly eyes that vomits explosions when beaten.

Same as Butner.....just got the reissue. A few changes made. The cage can be taken off during TFing and than snapped back on. Slight paint differences not worth mentioning. No tolerance issue with the bumper flip anymore.

I just opened and transformed mine, and I can see why his arms won't go all the way down - the rollbar is pinned in right under his armpit, so how it angled out ever so slightly keeps him from being at ease. Also found you can use the ankle tilt to get the foot juuuust enough out of the way to flip that inside leg piece around with much less trouble.

XT have had the clearance issues ever since Ollie/aka Wheelie. I can't even name one thing they've done that hasn't had that problem. But the results look good, so it's hard to say no to their stuff......

My Arkose also has the problem with the rollcage, but I find it makes the transformation easier to remove that part until the engine is in place. All in all, I love the figure, in part since I have always loved the G1 figure. (And it is seriously doubtful they will ever make an official Masterpiece of him.) I am hoping X-Transbots does a G2 repaint of him, since I have both version of the figure...

I just got the G2 version of Arkose, just because I like the green and orange color scheme better, altho the price point was also very nice. It looks amazing in both modes to me, but damn, that transformation is NOT fun. Contrast that with Fanstoys Spindrift/Seaspray 2.0 (which I also just recently got), and the difference in fun is astronomical. Spindrift 2 doesn't even need instructions, and everything just slots right into place.
