One suggestion: try concentrating on one faction. Maybe the one you like the most. I started buying stuff from each faction and regretted it... because I don’t like the rebel playstyle.

@@cloudgable8275 thx for that. It's a good point but I'm also coming into X-Wing as a collector so I will be aiming to get all the models over time. I hope to try each ship as I buy them and find my favourite and competitive squads.

Thanks for the vid. I was fairly new to 1.0, had the core game plus about 3 extra ships in rebel alliance and empire factions. Had trouble deciding what to do as conversion sets aren't worth it for just a few ships. So I just bit the bullet and bought the new 2.0 core set. Basically starting over. I cant wait. I'll be playing mostly with my 13 year old son, and 11 year old daughter who's dying to play. So I have an excuse to potentially build multiple factions!! 🤣

Hello, thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into these videos. I'm new to X-wing and therefore, new to your channel. I've been trying to work out whether to get 1st edition with expansion or 2nd edition, & you have answered this very concisely for me. My local stockist doesn't currently have the core rules in stock, but I have got some of the expansion pack while I wait. The tutorials are a great way to learn the rules, and even though I don't yet have core rules, I already feel I have a good understanding of the game. So once again, thank you! A big thanks my son and i used to play with the first set and then got into the force awoken and stopped playing until yesterday after visiting a game store and tryed out the new 2.0 sets and we brought that set and now looking at upgrading the first sets your clip has help with this.

I just got my younger brother into X-Wing 1.0 over the last few months, and we played over the weekend. He's going to get some 2.0 stuff, but meanwhile he's collecting a few 1.0 Imperial ships that he wants to repaint, and he's doing some interesting stuff with them! Meanwhile, I just got my 2.0 stuff ordered, and it will be here next week...can't wait for Lando-s Falcon and the new Fang Fighter model, and the new Y-Wings! Exciting!

I just had a fleet in the 1.0 x wing game 4 x wings, 1 a wing, 1 y wing and a falcon worked pretty well. Nice info in the video I am trying to get my friend into 2.0 but he doesn't like how much it is.

You are so right I have realized that looking through my new cards and So many ships seem sharper and have better looking upgrade stuff. I got both Rebel and Empire conversions and damn was it worth it for the Cardboard and parts alone. once my core set comes in for amazon i can play 1000 point games again. 2.0 Conversion is not that bad folks!

You can always stick to one faction, also a lot of the ships from the beginning waves of 1.0 were obsolete, so now they are back and better than ever!

Feel The Force Gaming I total agree with you. I wish I could use the redesigned dials and cards for the older ships. I'm a causal gamer and play with with my wife a lot so just one faction isn't feasible for me.

I feel for those who the cost is off-putting. I get it. But, one does not have to shell out $250 just to continue. I just paid $80 and that was with *only* a 10% discount. So I suggest baby steps. Besides, ask yourself this, if XW 2.0 did not exist, wouldn't you (easily) spend another $250 to continue playing 1.0 (over time and a few release waves, that is)? If anything, I stopped playing 1.0 because that game would make me pay $12-$25 (or more) JUST FOR A SINGLE UPGRADE CARD. I'm more than happy to pay $80 to restart my entire Faction X (Scum for me) and then set up for what, 6-8 faction expansions a year to get EVERY SINGLE CARD I NEED? To each their own. Even $80 is too much for many folks. But I hope my thoughts above will make at least some folks realize (a) it's not as bad as you think, (b) it's not really different than if you continued to play 1.0, AND (c) it is VERY GOOD for the overall health of the game).

I just got the conversion kits for Xmas and they are a bit of a joke. The rebel one only includes 2 maneuver dials for X-Wings, and only 2 for Y-Wings. Which means since I play with more than two of each of those I’ll have to buy another conversion kit. But it does include two dials for the Ghost and two for Sabine’s TIE, both of which are unique ships and won’t be played in multiples. It really feels like FFG is just taking advantage of its players out of greed.

I can't wait to get my rebel kit. I think the devs have done a pretty awesome job rebalancing the game as a whole. It's gonna take quite a few games to try everything I wanna try, just out of that one kit and wave 14. I wish it was less expensive to keep up with this game. If it was I'd totally try out every faction. I love the rebels but there are some interesting concepts, on the empire especially. That whole "commander on deck" kind of build, with a shuttle doing really potent aggressive support for anywhere from 1-4 other ships, it looks super fun to fly.

I played on launch of 1.0 and 0layed for awhile then got out of it. So with 2.0 a lot of the stuff that i have now has to be upgraded?? I'm a bit imperial guy and have close to every ship at the time I was playing a lot. So seems I have to push out some money to make things happen again??

Got the Reaper, got Saw's Renegades, got the starter set of 2.0 and Scum conversion pack on preorder at my FLGS, so all that's really left in terms of priority is Imperial conversion, then Rebel conversion, and Lando's Falcon. Will there be a need to buy the individual ships in terms of cards and pilots? I don't 'need' the new sculpts and paint jobs so they are much much lower on the totem pole if not axed entirely.

No. But if you buy used rebel, Imperial, or Scum ships from someone and a conversion kit for those ships, you would save a lot of money compared to buying everything new.

Crabbok, speculating, how do you see FFG introducing new waves once every faction is introduced? In First Edition, each wave had one, or two ships in each wave.

Good question. Will we actually get 7 ships in a wave? I suspect waves will stagger a bit. Once all 7 factions are out we';ll probably have a wave that has mostly sequel and prequel factions, to help catch those up. Then maybe the waves will alternate, or they may simply get away from the concept of waves, similar to Legion. Legion has "waves" but they don't release them in full waves, rather they release them in smaller subsections.

Seeing how FFG have not remedied the distribution shit show that they have in the most popular expansions they sell, I passed hard. I couldn't find a Kwing for over 1.5 years and lost three tournaments to TLT. Similar product shortages in lotr lcg, GoT lcg and now even legion. This repeats itself in so many products they produce that I'm never gonna get into another FFG game, GW did such an impressive launch for Kill Team and expansions and availability that it's a no brainer to just switch. I just can't understand why FFG has so much not available that is released, like none of my friends want to play Legion because the players and lgs staff are complaining about availability already. It's not even 1 year and they screwed the pooch. Did they not believe in the product?

I'm just not feeling the need for 2.0. I don't like needing to use an app, I'm a fan of pure paper and cardboard. There's no reason for Empire players like me to get the ships from the new starter since they're literally the exact same, no paint job or mold alteration to incentivize us like there is for Rebel players.The newer ships coming out from the sequel trilogy are disappointing, and not being able to use the First Order TIE in Empire lists is a huge problem because it makes there no real draw to First Order at all barring Kylo Ren rules. Which is also another problem since I don't feel like there's any reason to stay up to date in order to use the new ships that will be coming out in the future. Likewise, I don't feel like Clone Wars should be incorporated into the game at all, so that's not a draw either.

version 2.0 is a totally different game, and .. its not that good. You also must buy at least one starter kit because they screwed the players with a NEW DAMAGE DECK. I got the conversion kits and its not that good, for example if you want to play a Tie swarm, you will need to buy more than one conversion kit or way over priced new tie fighter.. and they added more junk to the game, like charges, they play a big role now. so now it will cost to play one faction 30 (2.0 core) + conversion(50) or about 70 dollars at a minimum.. by the way the new FFG list builder is SHIT. and you MUST USE IT. by the way, a standard game gives you 200pts but the cost of every ship has DOUBLED.
