One of the reasons why they made x4 with new engine is that this game not designed for such a huge factories like in Sol. Path finding for the autopilot and for example crates dropped "nearby" was impossible because the anti collision system.

I have over 2000 hours in reunion and terran conflict. The sandbox mode is the real heart of the game. Be a pirate, be a taxi "driver", be a policeman, build yourself a huge fleet of cargo ships(with questionable pathfinding "AI" especially docking or evade other ships😂) or build an empire of trading stations and factories. Or just explore the universe. I like that you can do whatever you want and there is always something to do. Good times.😁

10:50 Ohman... I just see the Frigate flying by, and I'm filled with sadness knowing that X4 doesn't have as many Ships... and those that are in there..... I want more Ships. And please for the love of Earth no more capital Ships with Nose guns.

X3 is a different beast to X4. Be sure to check out how different every ship is design wise, especially Argon, Boron and Teladi when you come across them.

Get better combat soft to enable aim-assist, you will need it (Edit: Hotkey was K iirc). Would not recomment going 1000% SETA keep it at 600%. Go into Missile Produktion as soon as you can. Missile-cruisers are kings of the battle (however Terrans don't have any).

Thanks for the tips! Got the better software so far, and I was pondering what factory to get first. Looks like missiles are no joke in this one.

Yeah, never played the original X series. Played like 30 minutes of X3 back then, was totally out to lunch and didn't pick up another X game until 4. The walking around/cockpit view sold the game for me. It took Greg sending me key codes to buckle down and learn 4, so I feel decent to approach 3 now. Feel free to share lore, just not how TC goes, please! It all adds to the understanding of the game if I know the details of the things that happened before.

@@SakaGames Alright. Well, when mankind created their own jumpgates, they decided to settle the stars and created the Terraformers to trundle to new solar systems, terraform possible colonies, set up jumpgates, trundle to new systems, rinse and repeat. The Terraformers were constantly updated with patches sent to them by communications. But one patch had a heuristical error - basically a Yes where a No should be, or a 0 where a 1 should be. And after the patch got shared around by the interactive AI, the Terraformers turned on mankind. Attacked the colonies, then encroached on Earth. In a last-ditch effort, a valiant officer of the Earth Defense Fleet used Earths jumpgate, fed it a random string of numbers and drew the Terraformers through, having the jumpgate detonated afterwards. That man, was Nathan R. Gunn. He and his soldiers were left stranded and fled from the Terraformers, eventually making planetfall somewhere. R. Gunn became the namesake and first president of the Argons Federation. Over the ages, their history became somewhat marred, but a semi-religious sect kept their history as a sacred saga, the Goners, once called Gunners. Meanwhile, back on Earth, it took several centuries before mankind was able to go to the stars again, and what did they do by that time? Build an X-perimental gateless jumpdrive. And the first test drive took the pilot, Kyle Brennan, into Seizewell, capitol of the Teladi, right before the bow of the Teladi Destroyer Phoenix. The captain mistook Kyle for an Argon and sent him there. Back in X-BtF, the stations only had a rough interior layout (wonderfully scenic tho), you could not walk around it or your ship and building a trade-empire was... not really possible, and you were limited to your own X-perimental shuttle. You could buy other ships, but not fly them yourself. The story basically lead the player to a certain Argon Intelligence chief by the name Ban Danna, to foil a plot by the Xenon, the evolved, advanced Terraformers, who want to reactivate the old jumpgate back to Earth to finish the job. Victory means the Xenon mothership is destroyed and the Xenon-threat eliminated. X-Tension, while tecnically seen as an addon by Egosoft is more of a sequel. You again play as Brennan, this time able to fly any ship, buy stations and actually start an empire, hunt bounties, become a pirate, whatever. It's a bigger map and basically open-end sandbox. X²-The Threat basically follows Julian Gardna, a small-time thief, who gets embroiled in the sudden appearance and savage onslaught of the new Kha'ak threat. Halfway through, we learn that Julian is the son of Kyle, who we played before. Ban Danna is also present and very important. X² has the first actual walk-around in stations and ships, but by far not as we know them now. End-mission is the destruction of the Kha'ak mothership. X³-Reunion basically ties in directly after that victory, where Julian is set to train new pilots and help defend against the Kha'ak, who still attack. During the final assault of the previous game, Julians father got severely injured and is in coma. Halfway through X³, he wakes up again and is madly driven to "do something", which results in him being branded an enemy of the state and a traitor. Coincidentially, he is linked to Kha'ak attacks as his brainwave patterns seem to somehow be used to "administrate" the Kha'ak. Julian tries to help his father and also gets branded traitor, both are hunted. Kyle manages to get a gate open to Earth and disappears, just as the Kha'ak go completely nuts. Julian manages to follow his father and find himself over Earth. A massive Terran fleet readies to jump to the other species. They wipe out the Kha'ak, and are extremely arrogant about it, causing many species to have distrust, while the Terrans in turn are distrustful of the other species due to their neglectful tolerance of the Xenon, who the Terrans immediately recognise as modified Terraformers. And this directly leads to the Terran Conflict. Welcome to now, Saka. Sorry for the extremely long blurb, but there just is not tl:dr for this. Feel free to ask anything, you want to know.

@@SakaGames Back in S-BtF, you were very limited in your choices. You had 3 types of fighter-crafts (M3 fighter, M4 light flighter/interceptor, M5 scout), the capitals (M2 destroyer, M1 carrier and the Xenon were the only ones with an M0 mothership), you had the TS small transport, which was doing everything, and the TL large transport, which was basically your builder. Building a station was done by buying it, asking a TL to building it somehwere and it took an ingame minute-long cinematic and boom, station done. No resource-gathering or waiting, all was paid by the yard and delivered on the TL. And back then, you had many stations. Every component thing you build on stations now, was an individual station. Energy station, BoFu Chem Lab, Stott Mixery, Nividium Forge, Chelt Space-Aquarium, Warhead Factory, 1MJ shield factory, 5MJ shield factory, Alpha/Beta/Gamma HEPT factory, mosquito missile factory,....... The map was also a square. Just that. Pirates back then only used their race-specific TS (Teladi pirate used the Teladi TS, Boron pirate used the Boron TS). You could also deduce the vessel from afar by the colour of the engine plume. Green plume: Teladi, blue plume: Boron, and so on. X-Tension expanded the map and pirates now also had M3-M5. Also, you could fly other ships now, even bigger ones, but that was nowhere near as good or refined as X4 does it. It used the same models of ships and stations as X-BtF, just with more details. X² expanded further., giving the first M6, M6+, M2+, TP Personal Transports, TA Armed Transports. The Kha'ak obviously also had to have an M0, but so far, no other race decided to plunge that much funds in this. It also used far newer models for ships and stations, sometimes looking better, sometimes not. Trade in X² was better, but also more complicated in the beginning. And this was the first time, you could get your hands on a player HQ, but not as soon as you could in X4, you really had to work for that. X3 was the first game where you could build factory-complexes where multiple former statins coul be bundled up to eliminate the need of a freight transport between them. X3 also expanded the map and amount of ships yet again, introducing new designs for some older ships.
