Hey Nobble, I do recall him small mention in the novel “War of the Scaleborn” where Neltharion and Iridikron had briefly hunted/explored together before they became rivals more specifically before the events of Galakrond. My theory is, they may have explored a deep cavern in northern, and both may have stumbled upon Yoggs influence. Considering they can see futures, Neltharion was more inflected by the voices… but I think Iridikron was also inflicted, but to a lesser degree. Kind of like a failsafe. Or considering how the novel went, it could be that he was inflicted to to ensure Neltharion started to take that dark path

I saw a theory that posits Drenden is actually Xal'atath in disguise, or Drenden has sided with her and become an agent on the inside. That's why he was so obviously placed for us to see him in this prologue, even having someone point out that it's abnormal for him to be there. A chekov's gun waiting to go off. That or Blizzard needed someone to replace Kalecgos and had to panic... I give it 50/50 odds either way.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought we discovered the existence of Aberrus when we were dealing with Sarkareth, so if those void elves mentioned Aberrus, doesn't that mean the strange void activity might have happened after we defeated Sarkareth? Maybe that's why it's strange.

20:50 Speculating about how bringing the Dark Heart to Dalaran would be a bad idea....that pretty much 100% guarantees that our characters will do it, cause Blizz loves to write plot that has us glued to the idiot ball and doing the bad guys work for them. I'm really loving the Xal'atath plotline they seem to be going for.. the fact Locus-Walker had dealings with her on K'aresh and recognises her for her role in its destruction is a really fun way to tie a bunch of old threads together. I hope both she and Locus-Walker stay around for a while. I don't really want Xal to die in the WS at all, but at the least let her make it to late Midnight.

While it's too bad the writers seem to have canned the Old Gods storyline, I was pleasantly surprised by this. I dont disagree, but i do think theyll need some unseen macguffin as theres no way we're getting stomped by some spiders in the underdark... of course maybe the nerubians buy Xalatath enough time to open a void rift or corrupt azeroth or something. Midnight things go to shit in a handbasket... and either we make it work the void and the titans come to destroy us. The void wins and we need to come up with something to repel the void and stop the titans from destroying us. Assuming theyre not destroyed of course. Or maybe c. Some unforeseen enemy after we beat the void.

I'm still convinced that the voices in this 'radiant song' are not the world soul of Azeroth at all. I think the voices are from one naaru inside Hallowfall; or maybe all Five naaru inside Hallowfall, depending on if we want to pursue the claims of Mereldar of there being five different naaru all inside Beledar. And I'm still not sure who Magni heard before, and why he isn't hearing anybody now, and who he will be hearing when he leaves crystal form. Was his crystal form hearing naaru and he didn't realize they were not Azeroth?

Perhaps you didn't play through the Aberrus raid; but we cannot trust your claim. The "ghost" image that appears at the start of the Aberrus raid that pretends to be Neltharion was never actually Neltharion at all, not even a ghost, not even a magical echo at all. It was a N'raqi faceless one the entire time. We don't have any evidence that Neltharion had ever actually been there. The N'raqi could have built the lab, the N'raqi could have operated the lab, the N'raqi could have created the dracthyr, the N'raqi could have been using the image of Neltharion which was seen by Emberthal, and in turn Emberthal's memory viewed by Nozdormu to see Raszageth being captured in a void portal. Using void portals is incredibly easy for N'raqi faceless ones.

Question from someone who's not the best on lore: We know of at least two talking blades in WoW, Xal'atath and Remornia. Could there be any possible connection between them? We do know that the Naaru were dicking around in Denathrius's backyard after all, so a void/light connection seems like a "maybe". But again, I'm pretty bad at lore. ...actually, thinking about it from that angle, what if Xal'atath was originally a void stage Naaru? She's got an extra syllable in her name, but otherwise her name fits the Naaru style, and a Naaru being a Harbinger of some sort seems fitting.

I doubt the connection goes that deep. Talking blades have always been an interesting concept in fantasy. That's most likely how far it goes unless they say otherwise.

@TeronRedoran There had been voices trapped in weapons in previous fiction franchises..... but as I recall, the earliest link to Remornia was in Vanilla WoW with the 40 man version of Naxxramas in the military wing, where there were floating sentient swords and axes as part of the trash mob encounters. They also hinted at Frostmourne maybe kinda sorta being something with a mind that hungers; but that was not confirmed. The voice from frostmourne was always assumed to be the lich king ner'zhul being bound to both the helm and sword. However, it was Dreadlord technology, so the nathrezim were the source of the magic for frostmourne as well as remornia and the floating swords in naxxramas. But leaving that aside, I think Xal'atath is probably something different. I think you should also consider that in Mists of Pandaria there was a weapon as loot from Garrosh called Xal'atoh that was some kind of old god fleshy eyeball mind trapped in what used to be Gorehowl the axe. I highly suspect that Xal'atoh was the start of a writers' inspiration for an old god weapon with eyeballs that eventually became Xal'atath two expansions later. Also, in warlords of draenor there was a raid boss in hellfire citadel named Xhul'horac.....which was a Void Revenant that got tricked by Gul'Dan into having exposure to fel magic. Then there was another Void Revenant that appeared in Legion during the Alleria outdoor quest campaign on Argus..... where Alleria consumed the Heart of a void revenant named Nhal'athoth just before we went into the triumvirate dungeon with her. If you compare all those names..... Xal'atoh, Nhal'athoth, Xhul'horac, Xal'atath...... I highly suspect that the writers want her to be a Void Revenant that served the Void, but who was betrayed by the local Old Gods and trapped in that blade.

I gotta be real, I found the harbinger quest pretty underwhelming for the lead up to the next expansion. The Emberthal quest and the Sins of the Sister ended up being way more fulfilling to me. This questline just kind of felt lacking. I was also a bit frustrated by the Jaina/Thral scene happening off screen. I want to see events with my own eyeballs

We don't have any evidence from the lore that it would ever be like that; and no character in game has proposed believing that. And while I have nothing against people doing a "wouldn't it be cool if...." ....there would be problems with that particular claim. Because multiple different cosmic force teams believe (right or wrong, they believe it to be so) that the Void Lords already existed before any planets anywhere in reality came into existence....and that they were the ones who flung out some kind of lesser void entities to become Old Gods in search of a world soul to corrupt. So you can't really put the cart in front of the horse. If the Void Lords didn't exist, they couldn't turn K'aresh into the first void lord, that would be self-contradictory.

Everyone is to be used as a means to achieve "the boss" 's ends. And her boss is Dimensius, not any underling. She's willing to kill and feed on any void minion to achieve the goals of the void lords, she proved that to us in Legion and afterward. She used Modgud, she used Natalie Seline, she used Iridikron, she even used N'Zoth and brought about his defeat. She'll use the Nerubian queen, and if she can manage it.... she would even use Alleria to consume and feed upon Nhal'athoth. Xal'atath is more likely to slap Nhal'athoth inside her Dark Heart item to use it on Beledar than anything. Alleria just happens to be an obstacle.

I mean...... the "body" which Xal'atath is in is not Alleria. Because we already know the elf which we as the player killed to put Xal'atath in that body back during BFA. Meanwhile, Alleria has both the heart of Nhal'athoth and some kind of essence of L'ura the dark naaru inside her. So while it is not impossible for Xal'atath to be some kind of alternate evil version..... that would make the story much more complicated and contradictory. A more likely and simpler conspiracy theory would be....... maybe Xal'atath was a Void Revenant to begin with, and every time she is whispering to Alleria she is actually trying to talk to Nhal'athoth inside her...... taunting Alleria as a method of making Alleria slip with her control of her own mind, which would therefore let Nhal'athoth out. Perhaps at a very inopportune time.

@@laertesindeed Xal'atath is a weaker void revenant, and it going to be written as morally gray. Her entire story is revenge on the Void and Old Gods for imprisoning her and abandoning her. She teamed up with Iridikron because of his hunger to see the Titan's destroyed , which aligns with her plans perfectly as she hopes to release all of the Void Lords which will summon the Titans, causing them to have a massive battle which will wipe them both out. The end of midnight sees the Void Lord's being released into Azeroth, and the start of the Last Titan see's the Titan's last epic battle with the Void. They both lose, with Sargeras being the last Titan remaining. The set up for the next 20 years of WoW after the World Soul Saga is the uniting of all of the 7 cosmic forces. With Sargeras uniting Fel(Illidan will lead the fel), Void(Xal'atath leading the void) and Order(Sargaras leading order) together. We will seek to Unite these forces with the Light(Who becomes the enemy and the most stubborn force to unite with the others), Life(Azeroth world soul), Death(The Arbiter), and the mysterious 7th force. Remember what the Jailor said before he died, "A Cosmos divided will never survive what is coming". With war against all forces need's to end and we need to unite them all together by taking out the dictator leaders of these forces and installing our own trusted leaders. Because "something" bad is coming that scares the likes of every single faction, including the jailor and sargaras. Whatever is planned to happened after the world soul saga is going to be huge and we need the cosmic forces all to team up to help us stop it. Save this comment because you know I'm right.

I think that's Arator. Turalyon is the Light and Alleria the Void. In the new short story he has dragon tattoos on his arms: one light and one dark. Edit: Also Illidan had absorbed Fel magic which is considered chaos, not Void which is Dark/Shadow. Before being corrupted by Sargeras, he wielded Arcane not Light or Void.

In Azeroth. under every rock and pebble, hides some forgotten god who has the power to destoy the whole planet.
