Hideyoshi and Hanbei bail to bring in Oichi's reinforcements. That's what I think they did? And by calling attention to themselves as they retreated they allowed Oichi's reinforcements to arrive safely.

If you want Katsuie, Toshiie and Oichi to be relevant, then you can easily fit some stages of them fighting the Uesugi in from Nagashino to Honnoji, it could also be used to explain why they weren't able to fight Mitsuhide themselves. Of course, that would require effort from Tecmo-Koei, so we'd never get that. Also, to quote a certain someone at a certain stage about Hideyoshi; "Damn monkey, he ran away!"

Honesty I think this game peaked with Okehazama. After that, for some reason, everything else just seems to fall flat.

So the translator didn't call this "Tetorigawa River". Perhaps there'll be Honnoji Temple, Azuchijo Castle and Mt. Tennosan then.

This game really does Katsuie dirty. He's hardly around for the Oda and half the time he opposes them since he's become Oichi's babysitter. Not once is he treated as an important part of the Oda at all. Toshiie gets a decent amount of screentime overall though it is mostly the first half of the story he's relevant. He's essentially a Nagahide stand in and i'm surprised he didn't show up at Yamazaki to kick Mitsuhide's ass. He has more of a reason to care about avenging Nobunaga than Kanbei and Kazuuji do to say the least.

Idk, this is the best katsuie has ever been for me since he’s actually pretty relevant imo. In previous games, all he really does is be a background character and a shizugatake boss. Here, he’s served a role here as oichi’s guardian and has been active from the start. Plus, koei is developing katsuie and oichi’s relationship too,

@@jeremydean1718 this Katsuie is awful. In every game aside from 2 he's been a background character. He's supposed to be Nobunaga's top general, the Tadakatsu to Nobunaga for a comparison and more important than both Hideyoshi and Mitsuhide to the Oda era as the latter two individuals are more prominent for their actions upon Nobunaga's death. In this game and series in general, he's among the least important of all Oda characters, almost none of his actual accomplishments are touched on in favour of more Hideyoshi wank. The new moveset definitely is worse for him and the design, while not bad looking, is also worse than before since Katsuie is meant to be an ugly brute, almost all portraits of him historically look similar to his previous appearance. Katsuie historically resented the Azai as well so this is a spit in the face to the historical Katsuie who was a badass and not a bit part player or Oichi's babysitter. He gets less screentime in this game than bloody Kazuuji Nakamura, a literal nobody in the Oda and all his achievements in the Toyotomi are administration related.

I definitely do think that koei could have done better with this version of katsuie. He still have the same problems with the old katsuie pretty much being the least important general of the oda army despite the fact hes the top general historically. He also still have the same problem of koei just forgetting about him. Sw2-4 katsuie has a problem that he’s just a background character and then koei make him a shizugatake boss because the story demanded it, that’s it. Sure hes a father figure to Toshiie and is in love with oichi… when he’s much older, but that’s really it. You could pretty much make him a generic officer and nothing would changed, and that’s pretty sad for someone who’s a top general. Sw5 katsuie while yes still has a problem of koei forgetting about him, but he at the very least serves a purpose, it’s to be nobuyuki and oichi’s guardians. Not only does it give a reason why he’s in the enemy side most of the time, it also gives a reason why he’s the least important general. With all the stuff with him siding nobunaga’s younger siblings, it make sense why he’s the least important. I do agree that he should have been a top general, but we at least get a reason. Sw2-4 katsuie don’t really have a reason as to why he don’t do anything in the story. Sw5 katsuie does and that’s why I think this is the best katsuie we had. As for the relationships, sw5 katsuie feels more real to me, mostly for certain characters. Sw5 katsuie’s relationship with characters like nobuyuki and oichi feels more real because of what he did for them. Plus, he much prefers nobuyuki and have a companionship relationship with oichi. Sw2-4 katsuie’s relationship with oichi is just… him being in love with her and that’s it. The only character that feels real with old katsuie is Toshiie and even then koei doesn’t really do much with it However for moveset wise, old katsuie all the way. His old weapon is so much fun it puts his new moveset to shame (it also doesn’t help that he’s the worst character in the game).
