So good to hear you explain xamp without the hype and immature intro stuff kinda self promoting. Explain so even I came away better informed. Simply simple concise information

WOW! Eli the Computer Guy actually making informative videos about computer science? I subscribed years ago because you made informative videos about technology. This is a straight to the point and informative video, and is exactly the kind of content i originally subscribed to this channel for. You should go back to your roots Eli. I like the old stuff you did like this.

XAMPP is great for creating Web sites locally. I easily installed a LAMP stack about four years ago, but, when I tried to do it again on my new computer, I couldn’t get it to use server-side includes; i.e., PHP wasn’t working with Apache. I read or listened to many supposed experts, and they contradicted each other. I remembered using XAMPP when I used Windows, so I tried it on my Linux machine, and it just works! I prefer to work outside of the Linux core, but I had trouble relocating the root directory, so I just use “sudo bluefish /opt/lampp/htdocs from the terminal. Couldn’t be easier. Go XAMPP!

Thank you, Great info. You should add: XAMPP can be installed on a Memory Stick, when I was in school, we had to work at home and at school, my internet wasn't great, couldn't work well with the remote college site. I downloaded it to my Memory stick to set up at school, Turned out I could do all the work on it, bring it home and work some more

@@balancemyself yes. A flash drive with a large amount of memory. It was awesome to be able to do the work on the flash drive instead of trying to remote log in to the school

Interesting. LAMP for our company is Linux, Apache, Mysql and Python I didn't know there were variations!

There'sa also LEMP Linux Nginx MySQL and PHP I think the acronym is as that server as opposed to Apache is getting a lot more use now, my server host management software Virtualmin can use either.

Never heard that Perl was part of XAMPP. Can't imagine why. Who needs Perl (a write-only language) when you have PHP? PHP can do anything you need on a webserver; Perl would be superfluous. Matter of fact, considering the way tastes have changed, I would think that Python would have been substituted for Perl. Though, again, doesn't explain why.
@hanes26 жыл бұрын
noferblatz XAMPP is so outdated now it’s ironic he does this video... python and nodejs killed nuked Perl and in many cases even PHP when it comes to new web app/sites. Nowadays java and php is considered legacy languages, you use it because it’s what’s used currently on the server
