In the opening round of THE PLAYERS Championship 2024, Xander Schauffele carded a 7-under 65 to earn a share of the lead.

The PGA TOUR heads to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida this week for the 50th anniversary of the THE PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Defending champion and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler returns to TPC Sawgrass’ Stadium Course looking to become the first golfer to go back-to-back at THE PLAYERS after his impressive win last week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard. This was his seventh victory on TOUR since the 2022 WM Phoenix Open. He has also claimed four top-10s across his five starts so far this season. Rory McIlroy will also be in the field this week. He is without a top-20 this season but will take confidence from his victory here in 2019. Viktor Hovland returns to TPC Sawgrass following two straight top-10 finishes at THE PLAYERS, including a solo third last season. Others to look out for are 2021 PLAYERS winner Justin Thomas, 2023 U.S Open champion Wyndham Clark, Hideki Matsuyama and Xander Schauffele.

This is always a great tournament but what I was wondering is? Where is the world's greatest golfer Jordan? Spieth. I couldn't find him on the leaderboard oh hes. Down at what hes a 148th off the lead well. That's about right for him and then he might make it up too like 98th by Sunday but. Again? So. You know I bet against him that he would not be in the top 10. And that he wouldn't even come close to winning this so it looks like another good week for me. He really should just drop off the PGA tour and give somebody else to chance to get on it. That might actually have a chance to win this boy has been rusting on his laurels for probably 10 years now and it shows cuz he hasn't done. A d*** thing and hes generally in 40th or 70th place at the end of the 4 days spend a joy making money on this guy. And don't get me wrong. I think hes a nice guy he just can't win any more. So it's a since bedding on him to lose because all the people still think hes a great player. It's getting harder and harder to get better so because I think they're agree and with me now that hes pretty much washed up.

@@CDubRealTalk That's also what happens when you make too much money. He doesn't have to play. He doesn't have to win and I've always thought that. Where's the desire you have to? Get. Up even in the morning and do anything? At all when you sit in rest on your laurels. That's what happens and that was predicted years ago. Bobby Jones said that money will be the ruin of sport and he was right cause. There's very few players anymore once they've got for Cripe sake what. 1520 million dollars in the bank?
