ONE OF THE GREATEST AMERICAN FILMS OF THE 50's. Superb, masterful direction by Don Siegel and all around superb acting by the whole cast. The guy who plays "the Man" Vaughn Taylor, he was Janet Leigh's boss in Psycho, hardly says a word but he is terrifying This was only Wallach's second film and he did not want to play a villain. He had to be convinced with a few weeks in beautiful SF and a big paycheck.. The scene in the skating rink should be in a noir textbook, it is that perfect. One of my 8 all time favorite noirs and A MUST SEE!!

That’s what I like. Right out of the start. Action then figure it all out.

The only problem with these films is that I've seen too many of them :( I keep finding gems and then five minutes in, realize I've seen it before and remember most of it. But, happy watching for the rest of you! This really is one of my favourites.

This film has powerhouse talent in the form of its writer (S. Silliphant) and director (Don Siegel). Enjoy!

The Theme Music... The Title Tune... had me spinning to remember where the " riff " had a near-perfect match... the English movie, a contemporary , ☆ The League of Gentlemen ☆ .. , nonetheless amigos, this is a good piece of work , great photography... it's well-shot .... and great to see " Tuco " , even pre- Lord Jim ( !) , in his early work. Muchas gracias ☮🍀🔔

As I was watching this great movie, i couldn’t help but recall Wallachs’ role in Godfather lll as Don Altebello. The canolli got the best of him in that role. I wonder if there was any white powder sprinkled on the pastry.
