In August 2010, the first of the iconic Cotter Xanthorrhoea grass trees was planted at the Canberra National Arboretum by ACTEW managing director Mark Sullivan, Arboretum chair John Mackay and Aboretum curator Adam Burgess. The Xanthorrhoeas were removed from the Enlarged Cotter Dam site as part of the environmental works during construction.
