No. Grubby is level 56 , his little sidestep right before they pulled is what pulled the level 58-59 mob on the ledge since he was in line of sight of him sadly. Tank was 59 he will not pull that

You can tell Grubby did not pull those extra mobs, because after the last mob died in the first group, he leaves combat. He never had ageo on them, until he gets stuck on that little lip and they proximity ageo, when he re enters combat.

Grubby had also just gotten dual spec and swapped to his single target/dungeon spec for the boss prior, so he didn’t have things such as permafrost or imp blizzard which may have helped them kite.

Hmm.. a questionable dungeon spec where you do not have improved blizzard. More of a raid spec imo, there are many cases where you can utilize improved blizzard in dungeons, or where it can be essential for survival, like in this case.

He was planning to use both an aoe version for trash and a single target version for raiding and bosses, and swapped to try it on the previous boss. The issue was that he had never seen anything beyond the gauntlet, so was not prepared or set up to fight new trash (though, you can partly blame him checking the loot instead of swapping back to other spec :P) Given the situation and his build, and how quickly the damage came (he lost 70% in like 2seconds before iceblock) there wasn't much room to outplay or manage the situation unless they had started reacting much sooner or had a backup plan in place.

To be fair I agree with other commentor that "safe spot" is silly for HC. It's all in for fighting or bailing out even though bailing out with some cheese way (leaving group and getting ported out) is a little bit lame. It's HC, but "too safe" gameplay is also quite boring for everyone.

4 ways they could've lived imo: 1. (pretty hard to pull off) tank stacks up all the mobs, Grubby frost novas + IBs, everybody runs to LoS and hearths, Grubby cold snaps & frost novas again, then runs away with blink, LoSs and hearths as well (if he can make enough ground to hearth before mobs catch up) 2. (not that hard but equally risky for Grubby) tank LoS pulls behind the door and burst down everything with AoE 3. (very easy but requires knowledge) run to the Lyceum and reset on the ledge 4. (possibly easier than imagined given that Grubby was still half mana at that point) run through the Lyceum with AoE/frost novas and into MC

But being a new player and a tank, which is probably one of the more important roles, in a tricky dungeon like BRD maybe run the dungeon as a range dps a few times to learn the mechanics of the dungeon is my recommendation, especially when 4 other players literal days worth of playtime is on the line.

Watching if from the Annie's POV, I would also say that the dps just panicked and didn't kill kill mobs when they could. Annie basically walked around for 60 seconds doing several autoattacks, and that's it. Looking from her perspective, I can 100% say she could've cleared the mobs as a warrior if she only kept attacking them with abilities all the time.

I think what Xar said at the end about running through is definitely doable... but man idk if many people could actually pull that off and keep their group alive with them. A lot of the mobs are ranged too. The fault lies in the lack of executive decision making. Nothing to do with Grubby. Annie, as a veteran player, should be able to analyze the status of party members and determine if they can handle what just happened in under two seconds. Putting that aside, when they made it down the hallway, I initially thought the priest was failing to heal, but after closer examination, it's rather clear that the priest had no way of healing without obtaining deadly threat from casters. So, in the specific case of after having ran down the hallway, and then asking what should've been done: the mobs should've been los'd by everyone, thus allowing the warriors to hit all mobs once they round the corner and clumped up, then the warriors could obtain threat on all mobs, and this would allow the priest to actually heal with no risk.

There's an easy LOS with the door. Always range pull. Always pull back. This might have been salvageable. Kill first group like they did. 2 more packs, LOS to door. Stack them up, sheild your mage, nova, blizzard, blizzard. Clean it up. IMHO the run call was a misplay, but hindsight is 20/20. They ate too much ranged running down the fire trap hallway by not LOSing. GGs, we go agane.

One of the golden rules of HC dungeons was ignored here and it cost them unfortunately. Always pull back as there is very few situations where its advantageous to fight the mobs where they stand. Also never skip packs so you always have an escape route if something does go bad or you have room to kite when necessary.

"Never skip packs" doesn't work here. the room they "couldn't run through" has constantly fast spawning monsters. The room is a gauntlet that doesn't turn off. There is no 'make an escape route' in this dungeon if you don't know the safe spot.

Also I could be wrong on this but I think the adds stop respawning once you clear the gauntlet and kill Magmus however I might be misremembering and it might require you to kill the emperor for that to happen.

no attempt was made to los at any point. just pure panic as they run away, through big dmg fire traps, towards a room full of mobs. the only way to survive this is los and coordinated aoe/cooldowns. only 2 elites in the pack. they probably couldve survived this with arcane explosion/holy nova and CC/support from the melee. after a smooth run they got cocky and lazy, and instantly panicked. basically everything that couldve went wrong here, did. and they werent prepared for it

You are pulling the group above if you move to close to the wall. That actually happened to me in my first BRD run back in vanilla 2005 too. He even rewatched the correct frame where it happened but it wasnt a demo shout it was just face aggro

The group on the top right is actually much closer to the ledge than the group on the top left. You can easily pull the group on the right with any targetable spell, I do not think you can pull the left-hand group that way. You really need to be careful on the right-hand side

I blame Grubby people in his groups die all the time, he is the common factor. Here maybe 1 would die, just leave group, run back, try to heart, if not run until teleported out, even if you filed to do a portal before this room which is a must and would save everyone

yeah doing this before 60 on hardcore was the issue. no reason to take the risk instead of grinding out the last few levels.

I dunno … i feel like if you are playing hardcore on a mage with other ppl. Always go 3/3 imp blizzard. Coc + flame strike combo is more damage but that imp blizzard saves lives.
