Xavi Hernández had won everything there is to win for club and country a few times over by the time Luis Enrique was appointed Barcelona manager in the summer of 2014. Convinced to stay for one more season by the new manager, he duly added another treble to his significant medal haul. Following a Champions League final victory over Juventus, Xavi finally departed the club at which he had spent his entire professional career and moved to Al Sadd in Qatar.
Xavi finished his playing career with four successful - and typically trophy-laden - years at Al Sadd before taking over as the club’s head coach in the summer of 2019. In this exclusive interview with the Coaches’ Voice, the Barcelona and Spain legend talks us through the final years of his playing career, and the impressive move into management that could yet lead him back to Europe.

what a legend!! absolute maestro on the ball. watching barca in their golden days with him , iniesta, messi, busquet, xabi, villa, silva has been an incredible honour. the football was flawless. the 2010 world cup still sorta hurts but the years of total football i watched you all play in my early 20s were some of the best years of my life. Xavi is a brilliant player and coach. I hope he becomes creative and adaptive as a coach. If he coaches , Barcelona, it won't be an immediate transition given their financial situation and the inexperience of the young players.However at the end of the day, he'll help Barcelona get back to their feet.

Pep didnt have the coaching prestige when he became the 1st team manager but he knew FCB and their style if football....and that team became the greatest of all time. Xavi is no different.
