XAVI SIMONS RETURNS!!!?
Indeed, rumours about Xavi Simons' return to Barcelona have been popping up in the world media during almost every off-season, but this time these rumours are VERY DETAILED and CONCERNED, and are confirmed by top transfer insiders.
'How can this return happen?' you may ask.
There is only one option - a one-season loan:
“PSG have made contact with Xavi Simons' camp to confirm they have no intention of selling him on a permanent deal this summer. If the player does not want to return, a loan move is possible & remains the most likely outcome. Xavi will have a say on picking next club on loan,” if there's a person you can trust in transfer matters for 100%, it's Fabrizio Romano.
And Simons expectedly chose Barcelona - not Bayern Munich, not Arsenal, no other top club that also would also want to loan the young star - but Barça:
'Xavi Simons will do everything in his power to return to Barça,' Mundo Deportivo insiders say.
The player is not keen on coming back to Paris Saint-Germain this offseason and doesn’t see himself getting a lot of playing minutes despite Kylian Mbappe's departure. This is because of the high transfer activity carried out by the Parisians, who are planning to boost their left attacking wing - among their transfer targets are Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford.
Or maybe, Xavi just doesn't see his future in Paris at all, having been disappointed in his first experience when he failed to become a part of its main roster, receiving only a handful of playing minutes, which forced him to go to PSV and then agree to a loan deal with RB Leipzig.
But at the same time, we should note that PSG head coach and former Barcelona boss, Luis Enrique, is eager to see Simons in the pre-season training camp and intends to actively involve him in the next campaign, though Xavi wants to use his contract terms in order to return to the Catalans.
Simons sees his comeback to Barcelona as a realization of his childhood dream: TO BECOME A FIRST-TEAM REGULAR! He has been fantasizing about making his Camp Nou debut since he was 7 years old when he joined the club's academy, and now his ultimate goal is within reach...
Xavi Simons is the perfect transfer for Barcelona
Xavi Simons can be the perfect addition to the current Barcelona squad for a number of reasons:
Firstly, there is an economic reason: you see, under the terms of the contract with PSG, the Dutchman himself can choose the club he wants to join for FREE as part of his development - thus, Barça will only have to pay his salary, which is €1,560,000 according to Capology - an affordable fee even for the crisis-hit Blaugrana. Having registered Simons' loan, Barcelona will save a lot of money on the transfer market, as it is not known so far whether Barca will be able to meet La Liga's requirements regarding compliance with FFP rules;
secondly, there are game reasons - Xavi Simons will certainly make a great tactical addition to the team because of his impressive versatility - he could play in all positions up front as well as midfield, except for the defensive midfielder role; but that said, the main reason for signing a season-long contract will be the Dutchman's ability to turn the problematic left winger slot into a headache for all opponents - Xavi can be used as a classic left winger as well as a 'fake' one. His stats are impressive to say the least - 31 goals + 27 assists in 90 appearances for PSV and RB Leipzig in the last two seasons; if we take the average figure, Barça can expect 15 goals and 13 assists per season from their graduate, which are pretty good numbers that are not even close to Raphinha's. And let's not forget Simons being a “Lamasian”, one of the former academy stars, meaning he has Barca DNA in his blood;
and thirdly, there is an emotional reason - Simons has always been dreaming of representing Barcelona. At one time the guy left the Catalan side because of it's lack of a clear plan for the club's youngsters - back in 2019, Barça lost a lot of its top talents because of the distrust of coaches and club officials towards the young academy starlets - now this aspect is totally under control and Xavi feels that he will eventually get playing minutes at his dream club!
