Hey Xavier, I don't know if you'll see this comment. My husband and I went to see your magical dream show tonight (April 15th/2017) at planet hollywood and we had a wonderful time. My husband told you that he seen two of your performances on Penn & Teller's Fool Us and you asked him if he was into magic himself. He felt bad not having time to properly answer you but he wanted to be respectful to other people that wanted to get their picture taken with you. He just wanted to let you know that even he has no interest in performing magic, he has always enjoyed magic as young as he can remember as have I. I sincerely hope you get a third try with regards to trying to fool Penn & Teller and your performance is a perfect blend of comedy and magic with a nice touch of ambient surrealism to it. I wish you nothing but the greatest of success.

I think part of the tell is that he's swinging the rope backwards from the "norm" which makes it easier to do a small release around the pivot points of the support mechanism. You can see his hands make a slight non jump-ropey movement at the same point in the rotation. How he hides it is a combination of lighting and camera angles, as well as something else that I have no clue.

Magician: This took me two years to figure out how to do. Teller: Ok, give me two minutes and I'll tell you how you did it.
@kma36473 жыл бұрын
It's not necessarily two years to figure out how. It's two years to take it from a concept to a fully fleshed out act: create the story, engineer the props, practice it over and over til you can do it smoothly and know everything works, polish the production value for whatever stage you happen to be on (staging, lighting, queues, etc). The idea is just an epiphany that comes on all of the sudden. Teller's job is relatively easy: sift through his library of known ways to do something, then intuit what other options remain and make a really educated guess.

A very clever and impressive effect that unfortunately was let down by overly 'conservative' lighting that didn't show his hands. I suspect that Xavier was concerned that lighting that showed the hands might have been too revealing to P&T and so reduce the chance of an FU trophy. Or perhaps Xavier didn't have sufficient time/opportunity to optimize the best lighting that would allow showing the hands while not revealing the method. Regardless, congrats on developing a really innovative new effect. Well done!

you can see his arms are cut off by the two mirror screens he has on his sides. Before he even starts the trick. He didnt position himself right and you see his arms cut off and tehn you can make out the mirrors. He is just behind two panels which show in the middle where his body is, and some mechanism is lifting and turning him, its dead obvious.
