Yeah… well I doubt they would glow, but Minecraft is quite keen on adding entirely useless mobs (sniffer, goats, other mob vote recommendations like the moobloom) so I don’t see why the wouldn’t add it at all. It would be so easy to add and you’re right, frogs could just not eat them.

They would only glow like the glow squid or drowned, vanilla minecraft simply cant support moving light sources, only way around it is PC modding and the process is too much for phones or most Bedock devices to handle and they want to bring Java edition into the fold... Impactful. That’s the keyword. The Nether update was impactful and caves and cliffs was “supposed” to be, although the staggered release really hurt the impact. Mojang could work on even a single feature, and as long as it changes and improves the game in a way that feels impactful, the community would rejoice. The state of the game isn’t as healthy as it once was, after all, so people want to feel like it’s improving.

The stuff they add & wont add is so unfathomable that I can’t even believe real people had these thoughts. The reason they won’t add sharks says everything you need to know about the company. Yeah, there is a lot more they could have done with the prehistoric plants, especially given the evidently more fantastical nature of that old ecosystem giving a good reason to have some actual functionality behind them. Still, we now do have a precident for the ancient world being revivable by the players in the game, so that when the devs eventually come back around to expanding on all the underdeveloped ideas of the past several years, we may find much more use in the archeology system than just potentially lost materials, crafting recipes and technologies. That's the main reason I voted for it anyways, playing a long game where I may have thought a bit too far ahead to be really all that reasonable.

One thing I've noticed is that _every update_ after the Nether Update so far has been trying to pick up the pieces that Caves and Cliffs left behind. 1.17 added the blocks and mobs, 1.18 added the new terrain and caves, 1.19 added the warden and deep dark finally, and 1.20 gave us archaeology, and 1.21 is expanding on Copper and Tuff to give them more uses. From what I've been noticing, I think the team at Mojang is starting to focus more on the technical side instead of raw overwhelming features that change the entire game. These past few updates have actually been game changing in the datapack and redstone community. So much new stuff that would have been literally impossible (or extremely difficult) to do is now easier than ever before. It seems like they're starting to become aware of what their community can do, and giving those resources to them instead of pouring it into complicated yet one-dimensional features.

@@SpredDemCheeks69 Sure, people push out bug-filled, generic, and non-accessible mods all the time. But it doesn't mean they do it better than Mojang. Most mods out there don't need to account for Bedrock and what it needs to literally function on a multitude of devices, already relieving stress from mod developers. Not to mention, most mods out there don't TRY to feel vanilla, instead opting for what the mod creator intends, which is okay, but should not be used as an argument for why Mojang takes time to develop their game. Modding is literally not comparable to actually developing for Mojang/on Minecraft. That's not to say all mods are as buggy or generic as I said above. Some are truly high quality, you can even feel the passion the developer put into the project. But in reality, no mod developer even knows the full development process and design philosophy behind what makes Minecraft feel so great for nearly everyone to play. Sure, some updates may cater to one aspect of the community, but that's okay. Minecraft is constantly updated and evolving, and eventually every player will get something they want to use. It goes without saying, but some people need it articulated, that Mojang makes mistakes. No company and no developer is perfect. They were too ambitious with 1.17, they tend to leave some features in the dust, and some features are not what the community feels like they should be. The only way to improve these aspects of Mojang, is to communicate, critique and share our opinions to them, so they know how we feel. Saying mod developers "...produces update-sized content for fun, in a fraction of the time." is harsh and simply untrue. Mods feel completely different in most cases and you can see it clear as day, contrasted with Mojang's quality and dedication to what makes Minecraft so great for nearly everyone to enjoy. Develop a mod for Bedrock & Java, across all consoles, make sure the balance of that mod is in such a way that tries its hardest to cater to everyone, then have it compliment the lore, and finally, have it feel like it belongs in vanilla Minecraft in the eyes of nearly everyone. Then, I'll consider your point.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind another dark age for Minecraft like 2016-2019. That period brought about some of the most revolutionary updates, entirely reworking large amounts of the game like the oceans, villagers, even the artstyle - and the update that cemented the end of the dark age was the Nether Update, once again reworking and changing a lot of things about the game. Microsoft/Mojang are afraid to make impactful changes like that right now because of the popularity of the game. Once the game dies down a bit more, they will be more open to taking larger steps again. I would compare the current updates to 1.10-1.12, updates that don't majorly impact the game and don't force you to interact with them. And if Minecraft truly enters another dark age with 1.21, we might get updates along the lines of 1.13-1.16 again to get the game back into the spotlight.

Me and all my friends think that the caves and cliffs update was pretty underwhelming, and the main reason being that it changed more of the ascetics and cosmetic rather than the actual mechanics. The biggest example being copper. It is an extremely common item now but there is hardly any use for it. So now the caves are overwhelmingly big without giving a rewarding result. I know the update helps for people who prefer the building aspect, but I feel like survival hasn't really had much substantial updates since the nether update. This could just be more personal preferences though, so I'm not trying to say that this is what everyone thinks.

The caves are a lot more interesting to explore now n for me it makes mining more fun, idk what's with this expectation for every update to be huge n perfect, I enjoyed the caves n cliffs update and it's definitely changed survival for me, it actually gave me more want to play in survival. Minecraft isn't just about defeating the ender dragon there's more things you can do, I've read other ppl saying they've never touched some of the new features like the ruins and sniffers and the new biomes, but for me I have, n that's cuz everyone plays differently n I get wanting more things that affect the route to defeating the ender dragon, but that doesn't mean the other new stuff hasn't added anything to the game

I actually kinda like the idea of the villager update. I agree it’s not ideal as is but I think it heads in a good direction. I have been thinking about this exact thing since a little before watching Minecraft live this year. This update can be huge for the game if it works out, and it's showing promise to do just that. I may be biased, considering I've joined the Minecraft community at around 1.13, but I don't think Minecraft is going anywhere for a while. Even with all the controversies (omg I said the word that xay says), and the community being more toxic than the wither, Minecraft as a whole hasn't been harmed too badly. With many other games, half this amount of community backlash would be a point of no return, but it really does feel like we're one step away from the second Minecraft renaissance. I'm optimistic, and I agree with a lot of what was said in the video (especially the "all mojang needs to do now is not screw up- they screwed up" lol). I just feel like the update themes are getting pretty dam blurry which not only makes the community confused, but the devs themselves confused on what they should add/do which leads to questionable decisions.

what they really suffered from is the fact that they are tasked to do an EVEN BETTER update from the previous one, due to the highly appreciated updates from the time during the comeback era with 1.13, 1.14, (1.15 was a nice update), and my most favorite which is 1.16 (they really delivered in this one). But after those updates, in my opinion, were a bit messy. 1.17 - 1.18 were supposed to be only one update, 1.19 (imo, i was fairly dissapointed with this update with promising more like the new biomes and the fireflies, but then boom they werent added yet), and 1.20. To be fair 1.20 (in the standards of the updates before 1.13) was decent, but not BETTER than the previous ones, so in the perspective of the majority, it felt ehh. And also the mob votes (biome votes as well), I don't really understand why they dont just add ALL THREE mobs into the game. I think waiting for an update with MANY cool features being added and actually meeting people's expectations is better, than waiting for ABOUT A YEAR for an update that butchers what they promised in the beginning and just adding a mob that had expectations of having a USE, but ultimately fall down on people's expectations.

the main issue is the fact that instead of choosing to push back the caves and cliffs update as a whole (even if in two parts), they're choosing to still release updates in a timely fashion, but then just push back anything they havent yet finished to the next update, here's the thing mojang, we dont really care about increasing our version number every 6 months, what we care about is features, if it takes two years to finish caves and cliffs for whatever reason, take 2 years to finish it, dont spread whatever content you have ready over whatever release date for a new version you had planned at that point. The warden was announced well over 2 years ago, it was *implemented* in the game well over 2 years ago, and only just now is it in the game? what gives? i genuinely dont mind waiting for an update, even if its well over a year until i get to play even a snapshot, but dont spread out the content over various different updates and expect people to be satisfied with bits and pieces content

@@Spobbles69420 It's much more likely that Microsoft don't want this particular game to be T or higher, because of the average buyer demographic. Most people who play Minecraft are 10 or younger, and/or were when they started playing, and/or started playing because of children that age (there are exceptions, but they're much less common). Also, not sure about other people, but I often deliver poorer quality when I can't do things at my own pace. So the deadlines are still a factor. BOOM mace - want more transportation and fireballs? BOOM wind charges (it acts like a fireball kinda) - auto crafting? BOOM THE CRAFTER - wolfs and wolf armor kinda mid? Well, they're doing the 1.20 thing again of only showing us the stuff that is basically finished so we've so far seen about half of 1.21's features if the track record is consistent. Like, the sniffer took multiple months to go from the vote concept into becoming a functional entity in-game and even then it took multiple weeks for its two decorative flowers to be added and properly implemented. No idea how that isn't talked about more, but I don't think there is any other game development company out there that works this inefficiently and is still being largely viewed in positively. We're at a tipping point in Minecraft history right now. If the community sees another split update, crappy mob vote mob or feature getting rejected, Mojang - whose reputation is already firmly in the toilet - will be finished and the community might never trust them again. So 1.21 better be a good update. It's clear to everyone that themed updates (Nether Update, Aquatic Update etc) are the way to go, but the recent updates (Wild Update, Trails and Tails, 1.21) have just been random assortments of delayed items and useless mobs (Sniffer, Frog, Armadillo). Also, the bundle is delayed to 1.22, it's been delayed for 3 years now 🙄 Someone needs to show Mojang that the Minecraft Live stream was just filled with #STOPTHEMOBVOTE 😂

I think the reason the sniffer might appear more controversial than it actually is may be how recent it is, which translates to being more in the public mind, and thus being more talked about/criticized. A year from now I doubt anyone will care about the sniffer. The glow squid was hated mostly because of KZbinr rigging, and being an underwhelming mob, but those 2 factors add up to being at most a completely useless mob, which is VASTLY better than the active hatred the phantom has.

Eh, too many concepts have been only touched at the surface level for me to comfortably call 1.19 textbook good and 1.20 underrated (it is overhated though, I'll agree with that).

Everything you said in this video was correct, but one more big problem was the minecraft live. It did not feel like it was live and even when they announced the mob vote results it felt like watching a pre-recorded video. The live was very short and not good at all. It could have been way better if they actually made it feel like it was live. Also the fact that the chat was just filled with #StopTheMobVote the whole time was hillarious

I genuinely think the only problem with the last update was that it wasn't for everyone. The sniffer could only interest those that like decorating with plants, cherry wood's pastel color stands out so much from regular block colors that you can't really use it unless you're purposefully wanting to build a pink house, the archeology system is so slow that some players find it boring, not everyone understands the value of game balance enough to be happy with the netherite changes, and the armor trims are only for those that like character customization. Don’t get me wrong, I'm in the camp of people that like all the things I just mentioned, but I just know that those things are likes of mine that will not appeal to everyone's tastes.

In my eyes the greatest flaws with the recent additions to minecraft come from how mojang has gone about implementing these features and how as a whole the gameplay loop of Minecraft has barely moved forward. - Archeology is slow, but the real problem is that its tied to particular structures so it can only be engaged with in isolated moments. - Netherite has utility from its increased durability, but has multiple pitfalls. For armour there's very little that provides a challenging threat that calls for the bigger numbers. Netherite requires more grinding than diamond and only provides situational convenience beyond those increased numbers. Lastly if a player goes out of their way to grind enchantments they probably don't need netherite in the first place because enchanted diamond is more than tough enough for general use. -Armour trims for customization are neat, but without a dedicated vanity slot, needing to be duplicated for repeated use, and being accessible only from various loot pools they take too much time and investment for minimal payoff. - The Sniffer takes time to dig up seeds, the egg has to be found before you can engage with the wait to get enough seeds to use, and of course the plants serve no purpose beyond decoration. -and of course more building blocks and tree types are expected as that has been the one main consistent feature across all notable minecraft updates. When comparing Minecraft to other sandbox block placing games like Terraria and Starbound the cracks in Minecrafts design become apparent immediately. To put it bluntly Minecraft lacks meaningful variety. It asks the player to build their own fun, instead of finding their own fun. This can work if there are sufficient options to satisfy any player, but Minecraft lacks the much needed variety for players who want to find fun instead of building fun. I'll use these games progression systems to illustrate my point. - In Terraria I can ignore mining for an armour upgrade upon entering hard-mode by grinding out spider armour and playing the summoner class for a time to save on resources. The same can apply to several classes throughout the game, picking up and dropping gear for easier boss fights and less grinding. - In Starbound I can loot surface villages and dungeons instead of going mining for ore, or I can craft pickaxes to use when my main mining tool has fallen behind in upgrades. Furthermore I can buy upgraded weapons or armour instead of crafting them, or find rare weapons and tools from looting the aforementioned villages and dungeons. Minecraft doesn't have alternatives like this. You get your equipment, upgrade to the next, and before you know it you hit a wall. Either enchant and grind out mending. Or enchant a couple tools for specific uses and repeatedly replace your standard use tools. But Minecraft always ends the same, with a setup with mending where your equipment lasts indefinitely (at least until you lose it due to lava or despawning). As a game Minecraf as it is currently relies heavily on incessant grinding. A grind that the competition breaks up with variety that Minecraft barely attempts to have. Some of the upcoming features are good and look like they'll help vary things up more, but ultimately the core needs more for the game to innovate in a meaningful capacity.

@@matthewbailey2744Yes Minecraft is about internal motivation, while Terraria is about external one . So maybe comparing this 2 is kinda dumb ! Also how the fuck did you manage to make the most blunt and contracting statement . Minecraft also allows the same variety as Terraria ,you can skip alot if things in the game if you want to and approach progression in different ways .

@@matthewbailey2744the more read ,the more braincells I loose . Isn't also Games like Terraria grinding? And power creep is like a real thing in the game ? Also about the neither Armour and enchaments ,dude they make the game so much easier and many have said that nether Armour was too easy to get . Lastly how can you say that Minecraft lacks variety, when it have the most diverse communtiy in gaming. We the builders , red stoners , pvp players ,things like smps and Hermicraft , people making art ,the modding communtiy and so much more . While Terraria despise being also a sandbox game ,most of the community is just combat and rpg . It's other elements like building are too small to be acknowledged or don't even exist .(which isn't a bad thing on itself) .

@@Dojafish Glad to see you really thought about each point I made and read my comment in good faith. Though in all seriousness you highlighted a couple things I can expand on, that I left out in an attempt to be concise. (at least as concise as 552 words can be) I will be leaving out Netherite, as though I was dismissive of it I did touch on it having uses. My stance is simply, in most cases the enchanting system causes something above diamond to fall short of providing anything more than convenience. But onto properly responding. I'll start with a vague definition for grinding. Almost every game has grinding and the definition varies. When I say grinding I refer to activities that are largely if not entirely repetitive and consume a disproportionately large amount of time. Simple and common examples include; Repeatedly killing a monster in a game to get a drop. Repeatedly fighting an enemy in a game to get a rare encounter, Wandering a procedurally generated world seeking a single structure or generation. Now, my comparisons to Terraria. There are many facets of this game that easily fall under the category of grindy, and I can't disagree that the power creep is notable and can get on my nerves. Some easy examples of the grinding include; Farming materials used in potion crafting. The entirety of the Fishing mechanic. Re-fighting a boss or event to get a particular item. Lastly both mining, and wandering the underground looking for ores and uncommon items as you progress through the game. The trait that keeps the typical grind in Terraria within a manageable level lies in a few places. For starters there is no durability system, everything can be used as much or as little as desired. To follow-up there are no heavy commitments, a player can swap classes or equipment whenever they want so long the gear is around their current point in progression. Next the game provides alternatives all over. Though the 4 designated classes occasionally use the same materials for crafting, there are branching paths, sidegrades, alternatives, and many, many options to choose from. A player will naturally come across many of these options without investing much effort, and this all ignores that a player can use the equipment of multiple classes at the same time. something While Minecraft has block placing and building as its mechanic with the most focus, the mechanic Terraria places the most focus on is clearly combat. As such though it can be annoying, the power creep is intended, the progression of the game being designed around it. As I mentioned in my first comment "Minecraft is a game that wants you to build your own fun. Instead of finding your own fun." (admittedly I miss-typed this when changing some phrasings and didn't notice I repeated "find your own fun" twice in my previous comment) In a way you actually prove this claim of mine by using the community surrounding the game as an example. I can easily say that Minecraft lacks variety because I'm talking about the core game. Despite the substantial amount of content, and all that is able to be created with the content. Once you go beyond building? Every aspect run into without creation by the community dead-ends quickly. From the only 20 ish worthwhile structures across the entire game, to the 6 equipment tiers, 5 weapon options, armour variety only coming from trims and enchantments it's pretty hard to argue that any of these mentioned systems has anywhere near substantial variety. Does the community find fun in the game, make fun challenges and experiences, create new engaging and original content, and much more despite the flaws in the core game? Of course! That's what the community of every game does and should strive to do. Do I enjoy Minecraft myself? eehhhh somewhat. I feel that the game and its development is getting alot of rightful criticism as of late. That the slow progress and continued dead-end additions cause it to feel as though the developers are resting on their laurels, despite the hard work and passion they undoubtedly put into this game.

@@matthewbailey2744 Honestly I can understand your point on enchament and lack of variety on combat . Everyone will just equip the same enchaments and use always the sword . Some enchaments are so Op and others complete useless like fire resistance . Potions while can be used ,they aren't really sufficient or worthwhile enough to make and use . Trident need to enchanted to feel at all useful, and still feel lacking . While I don't think this are core issues to the game ,I do acknowledge them as important issues . Combat while not the core of the game ,it has still a substantial part to the game . I really hope the new update makes also some changes to combat to allow more variety and creative on how you approach battles . I also can understand why some players feel make end dead additions to the game ,like certain features promised in Cave and cliffs update coming way later . But this isn't them being lazy ,but rather overpromising and being too ambitious. Like the development of the Caves and cliffs update had almost tripled the stuff as the Nether update ,on top the new world generation. The pandemic was also a huge hindrance to the development. Features like the Wardern , archeology and bundles needed more work and thoughtful planning to make them work . Example being bundles ,the reason why we don't have them now isn't because Mojang can't keep promises, it's because bundles themselves are not ready and they don't actually fix the inventory issues . People who played the expiremental snapshots had given alot of feedback on this problem and Mojang has made some improvements. Lastly ,thank you so much that you actually read what I was trying to say . Despise both of us disagreeing on some things, we can agree on some problems with the game and give our reasons why .

i think 1.21 is quite a banger so far, and its the perfect opportunity to revisit combat, especially since a good chunk of the update, tuff, copper, and the crafter, are all pretty much ready for release itd be kinda disappointing if all we got next was a single structure, but honestly just the new blocks and combat challenges sells the update for me anyways
