Dude, you need Rust Guard. It's flat black. Goes on like butter. Self priming. It's just gorgeous. I've seen entire cars done in it. But it's SUPERB at stopping rust visiting later, it's wonderful stuff!

Way to go, Phil. Always look forward to your vids. Hopefully you inspire more people to video their work. These old cars need restoring, and blokes like you show it can be done. Awesome job, and keep at it. Cool music, too fella.!
@projectxb8 жыл бұрын
+TheBear351c thanks for the positive comment! I hope it does inspire like minded people as it is other videos from restorers (like Pete Anderson) that helped inspire me. I just like to pay it forward, these old cars are a thing of beauty and deserve to be on our roads!

would love to have a go at this some day. Im a Boilermaker Welder but know nothing about restoring cars but your video's show that its quite achievable! Great Videos looks forward to part 4. Cheers.
@projectxb8 жыл бұрын
+Gino Russo thanks mate, really appreciate the positive comment, also having a boiler maker not hang crap on me for my welding is a plus! By all means if you get the chance to restore a car then go for it... as each day goes by prices seem to be climbing and cars are getting harder to find! Be sure to let me know if you end up restoring a vehicle and documenting it...

Hi Phil For someone with limited experience, you've got some good skills, more power to you for giving it a go. Also, based on my own experiences, it's better to radius the corners of your patch panels, rather than having a sharp 90 degree corner, as this helps to limit heat warping when you weld it. Looking forward to further vids on your project. Cheers
@projectxb8 жыл бұрын
+Peter Baxter thanks for the comment and advice! Yes I am learning a lot about welding as I go, I never had the patience to be a good welder and have learnt how much of an art form it is. Thanks again.

Thanks for the video mate, how do you find the portable sandblaster your using is it good enough for little jobs?Thank and car looking good :)
@projectxb8 жыл бұрын
+Mopar Man73 cheers mate, appreciate the comment. The little sand blaster is great for small jobs, would be a bit of a pain to use it to sandblast a while car though. I bought it back in the day when I was still an apprentice to clean transmission cases and plug terminals. It also works great if you use baking soda instead of sand to clean internal alloy parts such as cylinder heads and pistons etc

what welder are you using mate? Im looking at starting my project (XC Fairlane) and Im researching what compressor and welder to buy, thanks in advance
@projectxb8 жыл бұрын
HI Michael, the welder is a Repco 140 amp single phase unit. It does gassless too. The model number is RW1400i. Please document your rebuild! I love those ZH Fairlanes... I actually had 2 of them - a '78 500 and a '76 Marquis, and I really would like to have another one down the track!
