One of the best demos I have ever seen on any product in these KZbin videos. Too often we get a "demo" of a product that includes a soundtrack made with a half dozen other pieces of equipment or software. This video does a great job of demonstrating just the amp . Also the fact that he plays more than he talks is a bonus. So many of these demos have 10 minutes of talking and 2 minutes of actual playing. Good job overall. Thank you.

I’d be happy with either of them. Some of the clips you did I preferred G, others E. It wasn’t just one overall win for one amp versus the other. I do own an early rev G (still has small logo) and it’s a killer head. After watching this, I don’t know that I would pay a premium for an earlier Rev. Like you said, once it’s loud and in the mix, many of those nuances you can hear are going to basically go away.

YES! THE VIDEO I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!!! Now for my Dual Rectifier assessment as former user and mega fan of them. Rev E: Very much like you said there is a mid focus in the E and the low end is much tighter than the G. However it seems like it's a bit too mid focused for my liking (personal taste), as it's a little honky for my liking. It's also missing a little bit of that high end sparkle which I've come to like from Rectos. Would I play the Rev E? Yes absolutely, but I personally would dial back the mids especially when using an overdrive as when the OD is engaged, the mids seem a little out of control and maybe crank the presence a little. Rev G: Also a spot on description, more of a low mid focus, low end is definitely bigger, has that high end sparkle, a bit more scooped and a bit looser than the E. This is definitely the Rectifier of my choosing. The mids aren't overly present and honky and has the sparkle I'm looking for. I can play this with and without a boost. This is my first choice if I had the choice between the two. But that's just personal taste :3

To me the G sounds more aggressive. I understand why the hype about the E, it sounds smoother, but they’re not too far apart. For me personally, as someone budget-conscious, I’d pick a more ‘affordable G’ rather than than the rarer rev E. As always, thank you for the awesome review/demo! 🍺

Throw a Peppers Dirty Tree in front of your Rev-G, adjust your EQ on the pedal to match the same volume level as the amp without the DT, then adjust your low & highs from there (tone is a personal preference), and you will thank me later... Keeps the heavy HUGE headroom and punchy low-end of the Rev-G, but tightens everything up like the Rev-E with that nasty cutting mid/treb that just sizzles and melts faces. When Fluff talks about the Dirty Tree being the best Rectifier OD he's ever used, he's not joking. I was running a Fortin Hexdrive in front, and a Zuul in the loop (must do the Series FX Loop Mod, or else it won't work), and it sounded great just adding that little bit of top-end tightness... But then I decided to order a Dirty Tree, and holt shit! Night & day difference. That Dirty Tree is so good, once you get it dialed in, you won't want to play without it. It truly brings your Rectifier to life. And this is coming from someone who used to be anti-FX pedals... The only pedals I would use was a TC Polytune, and a Boss RC-1 Looper. Other than that, my board was empty. Now I've got a really nice board with some high-end stuff and it makes a huge difference. Also, I have now swapped ALMOST every active guitar I own over to Fishman Fluence Modern & Open Core Modern hums with the push/pull setups for volume & tone to be able to access all 3 voicings. No more EMG's and Blackouts...Probably fixing to list them all on Reverb just to get them of my bench. I am a Fishman convert, and the fact that after 35 years Richard Kruspe from Rammstein swapped from the EMG 81/85 combo to now having his own custom line of Fishman Fluence RZK pickups should tell you just how awesome they are! He was as hardcore EMG as it gets. @Kyle Bull you should review a set of the Fishman Fluence Modern RZK Signature Series pickups. Pair it with a Rev-G Rectifier, dial it in right, tune to Drop-C (C-G-C-F-A-D), and you can pretty much nail the iconic Rammstein sound. 🤘🏼🔥🤘🏼

Your cab/speaker combination can make or break either of those amps. I kinda wish the scrapped modern and vintage modes,and just made modern mode with the mids and sag of vintage mode.Pretty much a blend of the two. But hey,who am I? Great comparison vid.

G had some more 'modern-ness' and clarity that I really liked. I preferred the more mid scoop too when it comes to rectos. If I'm rigging up a recto, I want it to sound like a recto 😂👍. Difference isn't huge though.

This kind of thing is very interesting in a historical context. I think people seem to believe the revisions are more dramatically different than they really are. By Mesa’s own admittion, the clean channels got overhauled the most (very difficult to use on the Rev C) and the difference between at least the last few revisions are so minor, you can essentially dial them in to sound like one another, especially with how powerful the EQs are on those things. If you have a Rev G and you really want that extra 10% definition you swear you can hear in the earlier revisions, the mods to do so are incredibly simple.

Agreed. I did it myself. Just a capacitor on the red channel gain pot and a couple of resistor value changes and it gets the sound I always wanted from it straight in, no drive pedals. Sounds just like the Reise Reise tone. Did the same to my JVM, again just a few cap and resistor changes and it’s a less compressed, total metal machine with an almost Fortin type voicing/response without sacrificing the Marshallyness that makes it so raw and awesome. Both blended? Fuggedaboudit!!

@SluggerStark3 жыл бұрын
At lower volumes, kinda. At jam/gig volumes, nope. That 50 watt power section on the single rec is kind of an underpowered one and things get saggy and undefined once it is pushed.
