My X360 gave me 0101 error, but for now I am happy that most of my own X360 library is supported in Xbox One compatibility. Maybe I'll try to reflow the CPU chip at some time, but it is still no guarantee it will work more than few days/weeks.

question I have i believe a o101 on a slim but I do not know if it's e17 as I was getting nothing in my screen so I am not sure but I rember hearing almost a snaping sound and then if freezing the last time i played and rrod the next time i turned it on. any Idea what that could be I have taken apart everything down to the where I just have the motherboard and heat sink still togther please help.

I have a x360 E. rrod'ed a few months ago (E17 0101). Wanted to fix it but I'm not sure how. I checked the USB ports, they look alright (but I'm not sure what to look out for). How do I know a USB port is broken? If the USB ports aren't the issue, how do I fix it?

It seems like the USB ports are not the problem. You would know if they were the problem. So you probably have the same problem that I have which is something wrong with the cpu and the gpu. To fix this, open up your Xbox and take everything apart then you want to take a heat gun and heat around the motherboard for like 2 or 3 mins then heat the gpu and cpu for a few minutes and then let it rest for like an hour and you problem should be fixed. You also need to remove the thermal paste to do this and replace it with new thermal paste afterwards. Also before resoldering the cpu and gpu which is just the name for what I just explained, you should do this thing called a “hard reset” or something which you do by turning it on without the fan plugged in. After like 5 or 10 mins you should see the Xbox light turn off and your console will be reset. Then wait like 15 mins for everything to cool and plug your fan back in and put it in position and turn back on your console and you shouldn’t get the red ring. Also you don’t have to use a heat gun, there are a lot of other methods. I would suggest looking it up more. Just search like “heating Xbox 360 e/slim gpu and cpu”.

@@CBiscuitOfficial Thanks for the in-depth explanation! Before I go ruin my xbox (XD), I want to get the order straight. So I should, 1. Heat the motherboard 2. Heat and remove the xcgpu 3. Hard reset the console (Does this come before the removal of the xcgpu?) 4. Resolder the xcgpu and reapply thermal paste. Is this the correct order for fixing the error?

Is ur Xbox 360 a slim, fat, or elite? If you have a super small Xbox button on the console then you have an elite (the console in this video is a slim) If you have a fat or slim then follow the directions I mentioned in the start of the video and if you have an elite then skip to like 8 mins or something where I mention the directions for that. If you can’t get the buttons to work and the lights aren’t working then I am not sure what to do.

I think there is something wrong with your USB ports. There is also a very common with about cables not being plugged in all the way or something like that. I have heard of the av cable problem but I am not familiar with it. Because it is so common there are probably some videos specifically on that so I would look that up and see what you can find. If it is a problem with your USB then they might be dirty or the tabs inside the console are off. I would definitely diagnose your console like how I said in the first part of the video then find what your problem is in the website in the description or in my pinned comment.

I looked into this a little bit and it said it was not yet known. I suggest confirming your code and doing some more research into it. If you can’t find anything about your problem and how to fix it then I suggest using the fix I explained in the video which worked for me where you reheat the GPU and cpu as it is a common solution for many of the errors.

Alright so what I found is that your code means there is a GPU malfunction and that 0020 is very similar to 0102. So if you are looking how to fix it I would try looking for information about 0102 since it is more common. 0102 means there is an error in the “digital backbone” which is the (RAM/CPU/GPU) which is usually caused by a cold solder joint between the GPU and the main board. There seems to be two known fixes, one is something with the X clamps and the other is actually the method I used for my error which I described in the video, where you want to reheat your CPU and GPU with a heat gun or something similar. You should definitely take apart your Xbox 360 if you haven’t done so already unless you are going to have someone else fix it but that is up to you. This method is pretty simple compared to fixing some other problems. But before doing my method which you can also see tons of videos on if you look up “reheating cpu and gpu”, but before you do that I would definitely suggest researching 0102 further and finding out what the X Clamps thing is. Alright I just did quite a bit of looking into this and all I could find is that it does exist, but I couldn’t find any information about what the problem is. I would try getting the code again to confirm it is 2122. If that is true and you don’t know how to fix it, I would suggest doing the fix I described on in the video that worked on mine as it is a solution to many error codes.

How exactly is your usb thing broken? Because if the pins are just broken or bent then that is pretty easy to fix, but if your entire use port is broken then I do not know how to fix that. When I was looking up fixes for 0101 when I had this error code, most of the time when the usb was the problem all they had to do was bend the pins back in place to fix the problem.

But basically all you want to try to do is to try to bend the pins back with like a screwdriver or something. You might have to open it up if you haven’t already. First try without opening up.

Yeah so you likely need to take apart your Xbox 360 and re solder your gpu and cpu which you can do by going over them with a heat gun for a few minutes (you could also use a blowtorch or some other heating device but personally I think the heat gun works best). Then after that you should reset your Xbox by starting it without the fan attached and waiting for the light to go off, you should actually probably reset it before you re solder everything. Also note that you will likely need new thermal paste. I suggest watching a video on how to re paste your console before everything just to get familiar. Also make sure to wipe all the existing paste off before applying heat. Before doing any of this check to see if the pins on the USB ports inside the console are good because that could also be your problem. I hoped this helped, good luck.
