Xbox Display Enhancements Setup for Skyrim

If you've never used Display Enhancements it can feel a little rough, it makes extreme changes to the imagescape of the game but getting the right set up is tough.
I wanted to lend a hand to everyone and show them a few set ups I use that makes the game look fantastic on Xbox.
The right set up will bring out the lighting, shadows, trees and graphics in general and I would go as far as to say if you only have one mod focusing on graphics make it this one!

Crisp: Presets 3, 4 and 25
Fantasy: Presets 9, 13, 16 and 17
Sinister: Presets 3, 9 and 10 & Lower; Brightness, Saturation and SkySkale. Raise Contrast
Extra tip is 28, 29 and 30 are blurs that work with every preset 28 is extremely handy for covering ugly lod

You convinced me at 3:10 so thankyou for sharing how to get the look I like to go for in 3 of my 4 character builds. I just wiped everything yesterday in favour of trying out skyland all in one by your suggestion because although dark ages landscapes really is amazing, an all in one mod sounded tempting. I also decided to give Arcanum - A New Age Of Magic [XB1] A go and honestly it feels nice and fresh, of course at over 400mb it bloody well better lol but yeah, if you can, try it out as I really like it despite never playing as magic only builds. Static mesh and beauty of skyrim mods are both out of my space budget sadly

Try combining 16, 4, 14 & maybe 16 again, and if you're in the mood for some DoF you can add 28 to the mix too. Enhances colours without going too mad....... Which was nice.

i like to use 3,4 7 and 28 with +1 to brightness and red fade, gives it a good gritty dark fantasy look, especially with dawn and elfx

I love your tutorial videos, but I honestly would love to see a gameplay series. Any game that you like. Assassins Creed, Skyrim, KOTOR... Whatever... Your content is genuinely really good. @@Modswell you could always make mod setups and character builds with a particular theme and plays a 30min mission relevant to that theme with the setup. This would be a cool way to showcase mod/character builds. As an example a samurai through a blades quest etc. Play through with just whatever commentary comes natural with minimum editing just to cut out loading screens and menu stuff that not relevant to the showcase, one play per week with enough diversity should work out well. It also gives chance to show different texture/weather/weapon/magic mods and more importantly it gives you a chance to just enjoy playing different styles without feeling like work. Only work would be typing the load order out for the video.

I have Rustic Weathers Presets, display enhancement settings and NAT tweaked running with lux. I can't seem to find a good setting for everything. I need help

Been trying / messing about with the RGB settings in this mod, settings I'm using are In Cinematic settings: Brightness - 2 Saturation +3 Contrast +3 RGB settings: Tint: 20 Blue 10 Red 5 Green Fade: 10 Blue 5 Red With 28 preset (for DoF).

I'm currently using Vivid Weathers Definitive Edition for weather. Eye Adaptation Enabled and Bloom Disabled. Display Enhancements Presets 4, 10, & 19. Add one click of Brightness. Reduce Contrast one click. In Rustic Weathers Presets, select Vikings. My In-game Brightness is set at 50%

Ahh nice, I always change mine for the weather I'm using, currently its Aurelia with 3, 9, 19, 20 and 21 +3 Saturation, +2 Contrast, +1 to all HDR (Other than Sky Scale), +2 Blue Tint and FoV 90.... my brightness is 5 clicks down from centre

@@Modswell The weather mod using can make a big difference. I've tested Kyne's Weather AiO, & Haze 2 Standalone Textures under Mythical Ages. But keep going back to Vivid Weathers DE. It works well with RASS, ELFX Exterior, ELFX Interiors FX, & Graphics Pack. Vivid Weathers having a brighter exterior I set the book settings to help balance out. Setting Interior to Clear. And, the Moonlight to Low. This reduces the Star flickering during camera movement at night.

Yeah, 19 and 28 with Natural gives it a nice simple but pretty look. Still a little too black at night for my taste, but I'm new to changing the style so it's trial and error (mostly error lol).

I use Dynamic Cam and edit the settings for a higher FoV and kind of just mess around until I'm comfortable with how it looks, I do have a video on my set up

I didn't spend too much time messing with it but I'm going with 4 & 9 then choosing the ++brightness option twice. Kinda depends on your TV & certain mods a bit. Think my TV might be a bit too dark

That's actually quite nice for my setup too, especially at night. I do have my TV settings lower than the average person, as I hate glare and over saturation of colours (like all my friends and family do, for some reason lol). A tap on saturation and contrast perks it up a little too. I've been opening a book to test how crazy things are. It's quite a decent guage of how harsh the setup is.

Presets 3, 9 and 10 with lowered brightness, raised contrast and raised saturation looks slightly dark souls... use it with Kynes weather (without true storms) and that's damn close!

I didn't change any of those here but it's always worth a play, lower sky scale will make it darker, lower eye adapt will make it slower before your used to light change

Thank you for the explanations and showcase of the presets. Just a quick question. Just wondering what setting would help with crushing blacks? It's not my TV, as some forums have suggested (especially as other games and films are perfectly fine). I've noticed this is just an issue with Bethesda games. Fallout has the same problem. I'm using 2021 Cathedral Weathers and Seasons and ELFX - Exteriors (which creates some wonderful lighting) but the shadows are always a tad too blackened. If possible, I'd love to get a more realistic shadowing, where you can still make out a little detail at least. Without sacrificing the darker nights too much, or having the brightness so high it adds a weird greyish "film" over everything lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ah, I've noticed it's somewhat related to Eye Adaptation. Disabling it causes the crushed blacks, enabling levels them out. Guess I'll keep it on, then increase the speed.

Eye adaption should help you get details out of the dark because it's how quickly the eyes get used to the light/dark

Yeah, it's definitely helped. Mostly at night when there are light sources. Still a bit overly blackened in the wilderness (shadows on character and trees are the most noticeable), but you can't have everything sometimes. Especially with modding. You just have to say "sod it" and be happy with what you have before it turns into an obsession with perfection that dominates your actual play time lol.

I actually wish I never used this mod. Now I can't leave the damn thing alone. Just can't ever get something that works both indoors and out. Always an aspect I don't like about one or the other. It's either shadows too dark and unrealistic or having perfect exterior and awful interior lol. Think I'm better off using this for the faster adaptation and/or blur, then sticking with the standard weather presets. It shouldn't mess with interiors then. Had a look at DDS, as that allows presets for interiors and exteriors separately but it's experimental. Not risking my save (again anyhow!).

It's so tricky, right?! It doesn't help that I have very obsessive ADHD behaviour, so I can't think of anything else other than getting the perfect setup. Literally forcing myself to just move on and leave it alone lol. I used Mythical for a while before actually, until the lightning flashes making the screen white started to irritate a little. Currently using 2021 Cathedral Weathers and Seasons, which is fantastic. The flashes come from various directions and having seasonal weather is very nice. You can layer the presets too, similar to DE. Using both together, I'm getting there. Slowly...

I had CoT on the PC, but yeah went for Mythical for its size. I'm loving Cathedral though, especially mixed with Improved Shadows and Volumetric Lighting. Best news is that I've actually reached a stage where I don't feel the need to faff too much anymore. Buggered if I can remember the settings to share though lol. Shame there isn't a "Show Settings" option to record them.
