It sucks.. I've been an Xbox faithful for, over two decades now. They're not really giving me anything to work with anymore though. More controller styles than exclusive games. Games aren't exclusive anymore. Price for the services steadily increasing as the value decreases. Getting harder for me to want to stick with them... It used to be mainly for achievements, my "career" in gaming so to speak. Their value is nonexistent though... So, what's keeping me/anyone with Xbox anymore?

Microsoft will definitely go the way of Sega in fact they’re already heading in that direction, I personally don’t want Sega to make a comeback as they proven pretty inept in a lot of areas and still makes stupid decisions that continue to remind me why they went out of the console market in the first place they have some great franchises under their banner but they don’t develop these internally other studios do. I love Sega today because of their history and because they still do some decent sonic games which is why I continue to support Sega but I would never support them on a comeback into the concert market because there really isn’t room for a third player as Xbox has proven.

And you're right, I even remember Sega being non existent when it came to advertising the console or its games. One of their biggest games & greatest games, RE Code Veronica, never even got a TV advert which was insane

You have people who are gonna play on a console and you have PC master race. If you're gonna play on a console, Xbox was the place to play Xbox games like Halo and Forza. If Xbox starts putting their games on other people's platforms, then there's no point in buying a Xbox to have a console to just connect to a TV and run something like Halo when you can turn around and play it on Playstation. I don't think Halo specifically will be on Playstation, but at this point it feels like games from a lot of their studios like the ones making Indiana Jones are just gonna make a Playstation or Nintendo port the next year.

I think it's become clear for a while now that Xbox plans to eventually pull a SEGA, and become a software focused company; that's what Microsoft is best at. Modern gaming is just too much of a headache these days. It feels like a chore with fetch quest and filler and 75 hours to beat. 90’s-00’s was peak gaming. Simple 15 hours to beat and replay because I unlocked cool stuff by playing and it was fun all the west through. All content day 1. Gaming websites and stores were fun. Too much misdirection and flip flopping now.

Not only just consumer trust, but developer trust as well. Developers are not going to waste their time porting games to XBOX when Microsoft is putting less emphasis on the hardware, unless they get a big payout. American devs will continue to make games for XBOX, but a lot of foreign devs will steer away from XBOX and stick PS5 as it is the market leader in those foreign countries.

Phil Spenser said it himself during an interview like 6 months ago - xbox's true exclusive is gamepass. No one heard it, because I believe it was in the same interview where he said "if we make great games people won't sell their playstations" or something like that and everyone focused on that quote. But Phil is correct, xbox's exclusive is playing these games on gamepass.

Gamepass is a losing proposition though. People are only going to sign up for so many subscription services(they don't have so much disposable income to juggle 5-10 of them) and if they are already in another ecosystem that basically requires them to be signed up for the one's native to those platforms, it doesn't matter if you put gamepass on it as they won't be signing up.

I’ve pretty much stopped caring for Xbox and ps5 “ Next gen “ games. My switch gets the most use, however my DS, wii, sega master system and zx spectrum emulator get way more use than All modern consoles. I’m planning on finally getting a pc engine or clone of and the Atari 7800 console next. I’m finding homebrew retro far more interesting.

^This. Of course there is no proof of this, but the evidence is very obvious. Satya is making everyone look bad at this point. I'm an Xbox fan, but I'm not a fan of exclusives. I don't like it when PlayStation or Nintendo do it, and I don't like it when Xbox does it. Universal multi platform and services are the future...except for Nintendo of course.

@@nighttilt Exclusives are what differentiate the console. Without that, there'd be no point to having three systems that do the exact same thing. Xbox is showing why they should just pack it in and let Sony and Nintendo control the console market. That's not a bright future because we all know what that'll mean, cloud gaming. No physical copies, no downloadable games, just games streamed through the cloud. No ownership and having to pay a monthly fee to a subscription service to access and play games. I dread the idea of gaming becoming a service because it means no hardware, just a bunch of companies doing Stadia, but succeeding with it.

For a Nintendo KZbinr you care too much about Xbox or what they do. I own all three consoles and I prefer to play on Xbox. Yes it sucks that they are losing some exclusives but it is what it is. I still prefer their controller, Xbox live, and even Gamepass too. I bought a PS5 to play Uncharted and TLOU. I buy Nintendo to play Mario and Zelda. I bought an Xbox to play everything else along with Gears, Forza Motorsport, Horizon. I will probably continue to buy an Xbox if they continue to make one. I own around 500 Xbox games, I think I own maybe 30 PS games mostly exclusive ones, and I own about 50 Switch games. So I will continue to support all three as long as they offer backwards compatibility with their newer consoles. Xbox might not be selling consoles like they did on 360 days but from a kid that been gaming since early 90s and bought a Genesis, and then to N64 and then Dreamcast, GC and Wii I am used to systems that don't do well. Xbox for now is still making consoles, so I will continue to support until I can't.
