Xbox is Shutting Down the Avatar Store and Support

Microsoft has announced it will discontinue the Xbox Avatar Editor app on January 9, 2025, citing low engagement, while refunds will be provided for recent purchases, and the legacy Xbox Original Avatars will remain unaffected.

Man this sucks they weren't used much but they were still a fan part of Xbox and seems like all the character the 360 had is gone 😔 and they are actively killing it on purpose

They're shutting down the Xbox One avatars, not the 360 ones. The 360 ones were way more integrated into certain games, so they can't really remove that functionality without possibly breaking old backward-compatible titles. The Xbox One avatars (which were more detailed, and ran off of a different editor app) were pretty much useless and kind of a waste of resources, hence that feature getting Old Yeller'd

Yes, because it sounds like they're getting rid of the Xbox One-era avatars, but not the 360-era avatars.
