This video shows the repair of an XBOX One S HDMI Port which has been damaged whilst plugged in. Because we cannot get replacement ports currently we had to swap over the input and output ports to get this machine patched up and working again.

great video, something i would have done different is instead of purely heating the underside with a rework wand, I would have used the soldering iron and a solder sucker/wick or braided wire to remove most if not all of the solder through the location pins, this will be less time heating the board and less likely of damaging the fiberglass pcb material through heating. Ive found blasting a "cold" PCB with a large amount of heat can "shock" the fiberglass material and cause damage to the traces. just my experience though :D

sometimes the outer shield in the xbox one's hdmi expands and stops hdmi signal - dont need to replace port just bend it inwards from sides. if the 2 lips at the bottom of the port aren't touching and you get no hdmi signal thats why - no ground contact

You'll need a quality PCB flux (Amtech NC-559-V2-TF is recommended), and some de-solder braid, as well as a soldering iron (ideally with a larger tip and a smaller conical tip). Most importantly, don't rush it or ever be tempted to tug the port if it's not coming loose - that's how people starting out on these repairs write-off the boards.

This was really helpful but after putting mine back together, the power button is not "clicking" like it was before and the power won't turn on. The power button just presses in with out the click. Power is running through it as the fan starts for a moment when I plug it in. It must be where the power button connects to the chip behind it. Any ideas on a fix?

Yeah it's easy to damage the buttons on the front panel if the top cover is not slid back over correctly. Remove the top cover and look for the tactile switch still being present. The fronts can smash off just leaving the contacts or half the switch body behind - fix is to either replace the affected switches or replace the front RF Board PCB assembly.

These boards flex very easily and the heatsink is considerably heavy so it should be removed where possible. Also, might as well change out that god awful thermal paste from the factory whilst it's in bits.

I bought me an Xbox one yesterday I it plugged it in watch the power light on the power supply turn from Orange to White push the power button on the Xbox it makes the sound but the light doesn't light up know I've noticed that the fan doesn't turn on neither any suggestions would be helpful the disk drive when you put a game in the disk drive it will take the disc and it will give it back when the disk is in the disk drive it sounds like it's booting up but there's still no power to the light and no power to the fan

Sounds like you're potentially missing a power rail but first I'd check that the front panel is properly plugged in to the RF board. If all that checks out and it still doesn't power on properly then you could be looking at a Southbridge problem.

While it probably wont apply to you now, but for others wanting to find out what you need, here is a list of essentials. Hot air station Soldering Iron with fine and flat tips 0.3-0.5mm lead solder with rosin core Flux (for electronics, not plumbing) Magnifying glass for inspections (as the good microscopes are around £400, generally bought by serious hobbyist as a flex or professionals who will make the money back in a month or 2). Flux Cleaner and a new toothbrush. 99.5% isopropyl alcohol works too. Oh, plenty of lighting and about 2-3 hours of your time. Novices trying a repair like this need to take their time.

£5-10 for a HDMI port, £5 in materials, maintenance, electricity and so on, £20-30 labour and slap on VAT. So you're looking at around £40-60 plus return shipping. It's a fairly simple fix and takes just over an hour including cleanup without much testing needing to be done.

Hi andrew just wondering if you could give me ur input on this please xbox one s hdmi port looks immaculate condition no bent or broken pins and really clean inside but I have a no display issue when I power it on I either get black screen or blue screen and sometimes a fuzzy screen it has mind off it's own so help power and eject button to reset display setting and the display came back and works but only in 640x480 resolution if I try to switch to 1080p display goes again does nothing if I try 720p I get more screen action but it's all fuzzy and flicking on and off it will only work in the 640x480 res any idea what's causing this or what I can check before I opem the system up I never work on xbox systems only playstation so it's new to me
