"Maybe it's my fault for uploading the repair videos that makes it look easy" You are the reason, i wanted to pump my game up, i was classic computer repair shop for 10+ years. Faulty mobo? Fheck it, new one. Without even thinking about it. Now, 7 months later, i am proud of myself like maybe was not in 5 years. And i am REALLY thankful that you waked up something inside me to MOVE FORWARD. Really Alex, your channel was a huge inspiration, and i am really thankful you do what you do, today for example, i fixed clima controller for friends car no problemerino, i am fixing boards (instead of changing them piece for piece like an monkey), and it's absolutely not about the money. It's about how proud i am of myself. Wish you and your family only the best you can ever have! M.

I paused the video at 0:49 just to comment & say part of this problem it’s definitely you making these repairs so easy, A lot of people do run to the dollar store and buy a soldering iron & try to do it at home thinking it’s as easy as you make it, I have been in the micro soldering business for a good time & watched lots of videos & i can assure that you need to change the way you talk about how to fix something & disclose that if you don’t know how to do micro soldering never touch any board another thing, A lot of these repairs you get when the customer says another shop worked on it & ruined it , I can assure you it is the customer who worked on it not another shop It’s good to upload videos and help people but make sure you warn people not to touch the device if they don’t know what they’re doing

Best advice I can give is look around at home/at your job (if allowed) anything broken or something you were gonna throw out anyway with a PCB is an opportunity to learn and practice on. More so with removing chips and such but still good practice and helps build confidence.

In regards to Mercedes keys The old ones like in your video have a life cycle of usage times, meaning if the usage counter reaches zero the key will become inoperable. All Mercedes keys in fact have a usage counter of 162k times.

We just got a Macintosh IICI in from a customer. They took it to a shop, some how they delaminated the pcb, burned connectors and told him it didn't need new SMD caps...Suffice it to say, we sorted it out and made it better than factory :). We made a video about it and talk about your great message of taking repair serious and having a passion.

The trouble is, like all skilled men, you make it look like anyone can do it. If you’re thinking of trying to do this buy one of those £3 SMD kits, they are an eye opener. Soldering is every bit as skilful as welding…without a grinder and paint.

You cannot expect a fully experienced technician to just step in and work for you. I understand your point too, but from where should one gather experience, if every shop would have such expectations? I certainly could accept a work like you offered, but I would need a 2 week "warm up time" for sure. To accommodate with the place, with your tools, with the most newer products that I probably have not dealt with, so on.
