Capcom made all sprites for the CVS game. I’m not saying that SNK’s spritework is bad, in fact I think it’s a million times better than capcom’s during the CPS2 era, and I love the Alpha series’ sprites.

I actually really like this game and don't mind the art style of it at all. It's honestly a solid game once you get into it. Plus, I worked my ass off to find all the secret bosses and characters you can fight against.

The reason the game was so bad was that SNK was totally broke when they developed the game. They had to put something together because they had an agreement to do the game and would have gotten sued if they didn’t release something.

They made the graphics look like old school KOF because it took less memory then if they made it look like Garou. Garou is 12 characters and 683 megs. SVC had 36 characters and I think was 702 megs. Even then people bitched there weren't enough characters.

I love this game. The difficulty is insane, but I love it. Especially the lineup, i loved that it went with Zero and Demitri to represent their respective franchises. Lost my damn mind when they stealth dropped it at Evo over a week ago.

yeah, JoJo is a CPS-3 game. I believe CPS-3 only had the 3 SF III games, Warzard/Red Earth and JoJo's. After that Capcom released games on the Naomi hardware (Marvel 2, CvS 1 and 2).

I know this is an old video but Simmons is right about the quality of this game, if it wasn't for the engine then the world wouldn't have "seen" this game but I do think it's a little excesive the fact that Steve (I may be wrong about this) compared this game to cvs2, in this game's defense this looks way better than a cps2 game.

This game actually looks hyper good for Neo Geo. If you play the other games on the console SVC Chaos is one of the best looking games on the system alongside Samurai Shodown V, Matrimelee and Rage of the Dragons.

When SNK Playmore updated their tech in 2004, guess what? Most of the arcades either could not afford the new tech or chose not to since the old games were still very popular (modified versions of KoF 02 are still played actively to this day in local shops over there). The result was that most people didn't get to play SNK games post KoF 2003. The Ash Saga of KoF was mostly unknown to most players until KZbin and gameplay recording became a thing in the late 00s, and SNK's bottom dollar suffered for it. This is why they stopped doing yearly entries into KoF and even put some of their other series on hiatus; there was nowhere near enough demand as there used to be because Arcades were dying out to CyberCafes and old school fans mostly preferred the 95 - 02 run of games that were everywhere. That said, the flaws of this game can be blamed on SNK being near broke during the early to mid 00s and Capcom demanding they fulfill their end of the bargain and make their own version of their SF-KOF dreammatch. ...Plus Violent Ken kicks fucking ass so that boosts this game to a 9 in my books, _sue me._ Edit: This version is an inferior Xbox port, no wonder Kenny thinks it looked like cottage cheese ass.

SNK games aside from Metal Slug were never really popular in the US when these guys live, so it's understandable why they can't get into it since SNK's games have a very different playstyle than Capcom's. That said, Steve was bitching to no end as a substitute for his lack of skill to justify his lack of desire to play.

The graphics are great, and overall is a good and fun game. But to be quite honest, it could've been waaay better if it was made by the original SNK and not Playmore. The sprites are good. They probably pale in comparison to CvS ones because of the coloring. Capcom sprites have brighter colors and are more cartoonish, but have less frames. It's not like the Neo Geo couldn't handle those kind of sprites (see Waku Waku 7, Garou, AoF 3 and many others). On the other hand, the backgrounds were made with not a single bit of effort.

I think the backgrounds, for what they are, are fine. The issue is that they make little to no sense in context and just seem like a bunch of random places that have 0 to do with Capcom or SNK, which can be blamed on SNK not having the money nor time to properly develop this title.

I don't get why this game looks so bad. SnK has never really been revered for their great sprite work (several games like Garou, KoF XIII, and KoF 98 are the exception), but this game is on a different level. I don't even know what distinctly makes this game bad looking.

Playmore didn't want to make the game but did so out of contractual obligations. They put no effort into this game and it shows. Especially when see the character dialogues. Most of the characters are assholes [including the quiet and humble ones like Ryu and Ryo]
