Excited to share with you my awesome XC flight. Usually pilots don't really go cross country with an EN-A Glider but I know is possible for even longer distances than the one I reached in this video. Watch the video entirely, as I explain how to do it and share with you some tips. Enjoy!

At 2:28 of course you are not going fast, you have speed bar and brakes pulled half way. And dont use 100% speed bar on EN A wing during transitions. It make it go down too fast.
@Dvybz4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I noticed this when I edited the video. You are especially right about the 100% speed bar. Just wanted to test the limits and see what is capable of. My brakes have a long way. It might seem as if I pull a lot of break but actually was almost no brake at all. Anyway, I learned out of my mistakes 😁. Thanks for the comment 👍
@panther-xc89293 жыл бұрын
Nice video bud! Never use brakes for steering while you're on speed bar. It is like asking for trouble your wing could collapse due to the low angle of attack on the bent aerofoil shape. Instead of brakes always use C/D/Rear risers depending on the glider you have got. Love your videos! Keep posting.tc!

Awesome flight brother but I'm begging you not to use the speed bar and the brakes at the same time. That's a sure way to get a frontal collapse. I understand that EN-A gliders have a long break input but it's still dangerous. Happy flying my man. 👊

Nice flying man :-) Try go feel more relaxed and let go of the risers :-)
@Dvybz4 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I am happy you like the flight. I know I held the riser a lot at times. The reason is not because I am not relaxed or that I am afraid.... is just a bad habit or sometimes I am just doing it for comfort. Nowadays I am holding the risers much less and I am actively trying to not do it anymore at all. Thanks for pointing it out 😄✌. I will do so in the future (this video is 1 year old)

i'll give you a tip since this is a xc tips vid. when accelerated on speed bar, don't fly with your breaks on since this is contra productive and makes no sense to slow down the glider when you want to go fast.
@Dvybz5 жыл бұрын
I knew this is what some people might think. My glider has long breaking way. That means the first 10 cm are not breaking the wing at all, it is barely on contact. But definitely you are right, I did that mistake in the past. Thanks for your advice 👍
@ulrichbecker58664 жыл бұрын
Very good one
@zakit4 жыл бұрын
@@Dvybz I will reinforce Marek tip on accelerator and no brake. I'll add that the initial slack line of 10cm you mention are reduced while on bar. I will not get into details now on that. Therefore when accelerated, put your hands up. I suggest that you pilot on the C's. Grab the C risers on the pulley intersection. Don't let go of the risers. You will not loose performance. Once you get used to it, you'll mostly pilot that way, unless it's turbulent. Another important tip is to let go of the risers while piloting with the brakes. You have a tendency to use your thumb to hold on to the risers. If you have a collapse you will need to do certain inputs to help recover (read, view videos, practice during groundhandling and do SIVs). If you hold on to the risers your mind will give you a false sense of safety (holding on to something). You will need to do the correct inputs quickly. So you need to get those skills in advance. I know it's an A glider but they also collapse. Knowing the right thing to do Is always a good, and will help you improve your confidence and skills.
@Dvybz4 жыл бұрын
@@zakit Oh, I read everything you said. I got you. Meanwhile I got used to not hold myself on the risers no more, nor do I have any tendencies left to do so 😅. I also stopped braking my wing while accelerating it. Thanks for the advice, man.
@cabanford3 жыл бұрын
Brakes + speed bar is a bad habit - if you do that on a high performance wing, it will blow up spectacularly! (trust me on that one - I've self destructed my Enzo on full bar, just trying to scratch my nose with bake in hand - self-induced SIV, chuckle).
